Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 Crash on Startup: Error Code 0xc0000005

Community Beginner ,

I’ve been struggling with a persistent issue where Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 crashes immediately upon startup. The application doesn’t even reach the stage where I can load a project or interact with the interface—it simply shuts down as soon as I launch it. This has been incredibly frustrating, as it’s preventing me from using the software entirely.

Here are my system specifications for reference:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7 (13th Gen)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

To resolve the issue, I’ve already tried the following steps:

  1. Uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro – Ensured a fresh installation, but the crash still occurs.
  2. Updated GPU drivers – Installed the latest version available for my NVIDIA RTX 4060, with no improvement.
  3. Restarted the system – Rebooted multiple times to rule out temporary glitches.
  4. Reset app preferences – Used Adobe's method to reset preferences to their default state.
  5. Reset plugin loading cache – Cleared the cache to eliminate potential conflicts with plugins.
  6. Disabled third-party video plugins – Tried launching Premiere without any external plugins.
  7. Updated Microsoft Visual C++ libraries – Ensured all necessary dependencies are updated.

Despite all these efforts, the issue persists. The error message displayed during the crash is:
"The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access"
Error Code: 0xc0000005

This suggests an access violation, which could point to memory issues, permissions, or a software bug. I’ve run out of ideas to resolve this on my own. If anyone has encountered a similar problem or knows a potential fix, I’d greatly appreciate your assistance. I’m also happy to provide crash logs or additional system details if needed to pinpoint the cause.

Hi,

Sorry for the trouble. Have you tried running Premiere Pro as an administrator (Start > Right-click on Premeire Pro app > Run as Administrator)? If that doesn't help, please follow the steps mentioned in this article (https://adobe.ly/49ai0Qo) and let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Ishan

Hi Ishan,

Thank you for your suggestion. I have tried running Premiere Pro as an administrator and also reviewed the steps in the article, but unfortunately, neither solution resolved the issue.

Do you have any other recommendations?

Thank you for your assistance,

I've got the same issue as you. Been working from 2024 until this bug is fixed.

Hey there! Have you tried exporting to different locations on your machine? Try exporting to Desktop and see if that works.

Is there anything else you've already tried? Could you please tell us more about your computer, and which version of Premiere you're using?

Let us know.

Caroline

I had the same problem and noticed it stuck on "ImporterQuickTime.prm"
I went to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Rush 2.0\Plug-Ins\Common , renamed ImporterQuickTime.prm to ImporterQuickTime.prm.bak ... and now it starts.
I suppose it loses support for quicktime... who cares ...
