Hi all,
Have any of you run across this alarming problem when running an antivirus program? I have never had a virus on my Mac, but today a trojan was detected within My Adobe Premiere Pro 2025, right after I updated to Sequoia and right after updating to the latest Premiere. The file in question is: amended.app.ru_RU.dat.
Should I be worried about this?
Thanks!

Guessing it's a false positive. Premiere does not install virus' or whatever.
Might want to get a different virus scanner.

Thanks Ann, I'm usuing Avast antivirus. I've read online that others have experienced this using AVG. I also read that Avast and AVG are essentially the same, owned by the same company.
I used Creative Cloud to update Premiere, so hoping it's legit and not a virus. But would like to know definitively if this is something that is happening to others and not a real threat.

If you are downloading directly from Adobe, it is a false positive.

I agree with you, The file may simply have been flagged incorrectly by his antivirus software due to its name or structure. Antivirus programs sometimes mistake normal software components for malware.

Downloads from the CC Desktop app while signed in are totally safe. Their security levels are incredibly high, as they serve so many government and sensitive other companies with apps.

I think this is the first time I've posted on this community and want to thank you all for jumping in to help. This issue literally sent me on anxious high alert. If anyone else has any additional info on this, please share. Otherwise, thanks, all!

Every once in awhile some AV software gives a false report on Adobe apps. Always false.

Thanks, MyerPj and R Neil! Yeah, will definitely come back here with all my Adobe questions. Another thing that sucks with the AV software is that we can submit the suspicious file for analysis, but they will not let you know the results. So, what's the point of that? Anyway...

I just had the same scare as you (thanks for posting here). AVG Antivirus free version flagged "ame.app.ru_RU.dat" as a trojan and placed in quarantine, claiming that there was a script " SNH-gen [Tri] " associated with it somehow. The file was in the DICTIONARIES sub-folder of Premiere files, and the sub-folder was ru_RU (I suppose for Russian dictionary). I permanently deleted the whole folder as I don't use Russian. Kinda wonky, and if it is a false positive, Adobe should reach out to all antivirus companies and get that squared away.

No its the other way around. Antivirus comp. make their free software very limited.
Better of using a paid version.
Or if you are on Window use Windows Defender which you already paid for and is just as good.
Big software comp do not put virus' or Trojans in their software.

MOT appears to be on Mac, but Windows users should stick with Windows Defender, it's the least intrusive of the lot. An as Ann said, it's up to the AV supplier to not end up with false positives.

Kinda wonky indeed! I deleted that "suspicious" file too and have not opened and tried to use Premiere since then. Having a little PTSD from the whole thing. Have you experienced any problems using Premiere without that ame.app.ru_RU.dat file?

For crying out loud, in over a decade of heavy time on these forums ...
NOT ONE USER HAS EVER GOT A VIRUS OR MALWARE FROM A DOWNLOAD FROM THE CC APP.
NOT.
ONE.
EVER.

That wasn't anger. It from a bit of irritation, true. Due to the unfounded concerns.
But it is also true. Simply, if some what boldly stated.
Free A-V is well, easy to acquire and of course cheap. And unfortunately worth everything you paid for it.

I'm here because I received the same flag. I have a paid version of AVG. I hope the expert panellists are correct and it's a false positive.

I've used the CC apps for over a decade. Major time on the forums here and elsewhere.
I have never heard of any virus or malware distributed by the CC Desktop app. Period.
Every once in a while, some build of a virus app (normally the free version) will report false positives.
Adobe distributes a ton of apps across different systems. Including business documentation verification apps used by governments and military contractors. Their anti malware capabilities are some of the highest around.

Thanks, R Neil, for your continued reassurance. I've been using Adobe software for 20+ years and still got freaked when the AV software found a trojan. I think both adobe and the AV software should inform us that a glitch like this can happen. It causes unnecessary stress. With all the security meaures we are told to take to protect our digital selves, are we supposed to just shrug this off without asking questions? I think we should, to be safe, even if it's Adobe.
