I cant get Premier to read PNG's, I make them in Photoshop and export them as PNG's but when they come in Premier is all the weird crap.

I already clear the cache, re installed, re exported, started  new project, I cant get it t work! WHAT THE CRAP IS HAPPENING!!!

This are two pictures of PNG's it is one title, but Premier is merging all the PNGS in to one picture, same with the one below, it suppose to say TIPS on crussing, not all that weird color and reverse shadow going on.... this is totally wrong!! @masku20000 I'm trying to find how I can check out today's release.  I have the latest Premiere Pro installed.  There is only the option to "open" in my Adobe Creative Cloud panel not "update".  And the PNG's are still not working.  Please let me know if I should uninstall latest version and reinstall?

If your not able to see the update open the Creative Cloud menu bar icon, when it drops down click on the three dots next to your icon.  Then click on "Check for App Updates".  Once I clicked on that the update for Premiere Pro and Media Encoder appeared.  Update fixed all my issues with PNG's and Alpha channel .MOV's.  Whoop!!  Thanks Adobe!

Unfortunately we are seeing no difference in behaviour with the new patch. This is on MacOS (High Sierra v10.13.4) with  Premiere 12.1.1. What's worst is that it seems to have spread to PSD files now as well. We converted the PNGs which were causing problems, to PSDs and that was our work-around for this issue. But it now appears that our work-around is going to bite us in the behind. Because the superimpose and frame flipping issues are now also seen when using PSD files that have been created from the PNGs.

So it looks like the issue is still there. At least for us it is. And we've tried several things after the update, ranging from reboots to emptying the cache, deleting rendered (preview) files and even converting the PSDs back to PNG. Whats peculiar is that these PNGs were all created from inside Premiere. The offending PNGs are actual still exports from parts of the edits.

Update: It looks like the issue is concentrating on nested sequences. PNG and PSD usage in plain sequences appear to be ok after the update but when such a sequence is used inside another sequence, rendering the parent sequence will display visual artifacts like frame flipping and superimposing of different frames into one frame. So it appears the issue is partly solved but not whith regards to nested sequences.

It looks like the patch for AE hasn't been released yet, but I've confirmed that it's going to be released very soon. I'll update this thread when I know it's gone live. Thanks for the patience.

If anyone is still having trouble with this particular issue, email me at dramirez|at|adobe.com so you can provide me with an example so I can try and reproduce here in house. I've verified that the issue I was experiencing(mixed frames, out of order frames in both PNG sequences and QT PNG codec movies) is fixed in PR 12.1.1.

We're on 12.1.1 build 12 ... But it appears we are experiencing a totally different issue currently, not really PNG related anymore. It seems were having the PNG issues, those were solved but were replaced with low-level exceptions in the Dip to white and Dip to black (AEVideoFilter) effects. So, never mind me. 😉

Are you windows or mac? I wonder how we could both be up to date, but you have a newer version number than I do... I'm on a mac, so maybe that's why.

Hello,

I am not professional, so after PNG issue I have decided to use PSD files instead. When I used dissolve dip to black video transition in my 15 sec. long project Export Media caused Premiere Pro not responding error. After removing  this transition Export Media is working. New issue, I am sure.

Working with the psd file is far better than png. With the psg you can always edit the image or images in Photoshop. Even if I get png file from the net I convert them to Photoshop layers for further editing keeping the quality high

The patch release of a couple-three days back has fixed the png issue for most people ... have you tried that?

Though as you mention, the psd files can keep more ability to modify things later. PNG files somewhat easier to move around, always a choice it seems.

FWIW, this is true for PR and AME, but AE's patch has not gone public yet.
