App Updates load as new programme

New Here ,

Hey guys, so I just got adobe 2025, but instead of updating my current adobe, it just loaded the entire creative suite as new app. Effectively I now have 2024 & 2025 installed simultaneously which is not ideal. Am I do something wrong? Is there a setting I have to change? Please help.

Mac 14' Pro - M2 Pro OSx Ventura

Thank you

That is correct.

2025 is a new version, it does not overwrite 2024.

If you do not want 2024 you can uninstall the program using the CC desktop app.

On the other hand I would leave it for a bit see it 2025 runs like expected. If not you can return to 2024 without having to re install.

This in the normal procedure for full version updates.  When you install the update, there is a dialogue that should come up which asks if you want to delete old versions.  If you check it "yes", then, for example in this case, 2024 would have been deleted when 2025 was installed.  By default I leave mine off.

In the long run, it is often smart to keep old versions around in case you ever need to use one for an old project.  Adobe only permits the two most recent versions to be downloaded later, meaning that if, for example, you wanted to open up Premiere 2020 in order to digitize some old footage from tape, you wouldn't be able to install it unless you still had it installed.

So, up to you, but I generally keep old versions installed indefinitely.  You never know when they might remove some obscure old feature and down the road you suddenly need it for something.

Hi, I have the same issue and noticed a drastic slow down with my laptop. Wouldn't this also cause the storage to be affected?

Adobe now says I have to pay to have 2024 still on the same machine, with 2025, which is ruthlessley unfair, precisely because we end up being beta testers...this stinks adobe!!! why are you trying to charge me? Its on the same IP address, clearly being used by me....I am allowed two versions on different machines...by the gods I hate adobe.

No, you do not pay extra for an older version of Premiere still on your machine. I've got back through about 2018 on my main desktop, and clear to the original CC ... 2014 ... on my older, backup rig.

If you have a single app subscription, you would pay more for a different second installation though.

Hi

I've got 2 pc's each with the Adobe suite, as per subscription inclusive of
2 machines.
Whenever I launch the 2024 version of Preniere, I get this nasty message
sating pay more, change your password or we'll do it over and above your
permission.

This totally stinks to me...and I do not understand why.

Thanks

Did you install them perhaps using different Adobe accounts?

You might make sure the "Auto-update" switch is turned off in the Creative Cloud desktop app / Preference/Apps, so you'll have the opportunity of installing when you want, and a chance to replace or keep the previous version.
