I was using Premiere 2023, and found this problem, and I'm mainly using the 2017 release too, and found this problem too. It was supposed for the caption to show in the Arabic language (أ ب ت ث ج..ي), and not like these werid characters. I tried to find any solution, but didn't find. So tell me how to solve it in 2023 release and 2017 too.

Hello Ahmed, couple questions:
- How did you create that caption? Are you importing a text file? If so, you can share it with me and I will have a look and see what's the problem.
- Do you have Arabic installed as an additional language in your operating system?

@ahmed29633359sv0w true it happens when you copy paste text from other applications i.e. word, or text, but when you click the type tool, you can write correctly Arabic. Don't know why copy paste doesn't work?!!

Hello again, and sorry for replying late; I was bussy. I downloaded some captions for movies and anime, and I import them to premiere and played with my media player (VLC) ; in order to test if caption is working or not.
and the resault were in:
1- There is some captions that worked in media player didn't work in premiere:
2- some caption that worked in Vlc worked in premiere:
3- And there're captions that didn't work in media player or Premiere
Subtitles in VLC appeared like this (Arabic words, but understandable words)
Or didn't'appear
So, it seems like some subtitles files are not working for some reason, I couldn't understand (maybe corrupted files), on both of the programs, but the main focus on the files that worked on my Media player and didn't work on premiere. That means that there's a problem in premiere and not the file.
There is some photos that my help about my computer language and other stuff:
* note about this photo: I faced a problem with appearing werid characters in Vlc's subtitles, but I after I changed "The current system locale" from English to Arabic, it was fixed.
* All the files I used in .srt format whether in my media player or premiere.

ahmed,
Thanks for the screenshots.
I believe you are saying that you have downloaded a number of movies (e.g. mp4) and associated caption files (srt). And you have tried to add them to timelines in PR. Your screenshots appear to be from PR 2017, and I understand that you have also tried these in PR 2023.
The caption workflow was changed entirely in PR 2021. To help you, we need more information. And it would help for you to decide which version you want to work with first: PR 2017 or PR 2023.
As you described, different movies (and the associated srt) had different results in PR. And the solution may be different for each one. Pick one that did not work, and show a screenshot of the movie and srt on the timeline, that also shows the Caption Panel and the Program Monitor.
Stan
