audio not playing

Hi everyone,

I'm using Premier Pro CC v 13.0.

I have a .prproj file open that contains a number of clips. When I play one of the clips it plays perfectly, ie. both video and audio but when I try to play other clip the video plays but it doesn't play the audio. I noticed that it seemed to be performing a conform action and I got 5 of the following errors:

An unspecified error occurred while performing a conform action on the following file: /Users/ABC/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Media Cache Files/VTS_01_2.VOB 48000.cfa

I wondered if someone could tell me what the above error means and why it won't play the audio for this particular clip.

I'm using Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3,

Would really appreciate any assistance.

Have you tried deleting the cfa file?

Every time you import audio to Premiere it creates a.cfa file. it looks like something is corrupt with it.

I would close Premiere, delete the cfa file, then reopen Premiere.

It will build a new file .cfa when you open Premiere.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply,

I just tried to go and deleted the .cfa file mentioned in the original post I can't find it at the path shown in the error. The only files starting with VTS located in the Media Cache Files folder are as follows:

They're all .ims files.

Would you have any other suggestions?

Thanks again.

In PPro

Edit > Preferences > Media Cache

Click on "Delete Unused"

If that doesn't work

maybe try deleting the file and importing it again...

Hi,

I tried "Delete Unused" in the preferences but this didn't help.

I don't really have the option of deleting the file and re-importing as I've spent so much time on it and have added captions etc.

This has only happened since I updated to the latest version of the program so I'm not sure if it's a bug?

Also, I've found other clips where the first 40 seconds is just showing a red background and no video or audio. This again has only happened since Premiere was updated. It seems to have corrupted a lot of my files.

Is there a workaround and has anyone else had similar problems?

Hi,

Unfortunately "Delete Render Files" is greyed for some reason so I'm unable to delete them.

Are you able to let me know the location of the video and audio previews folder on Mac OS? Also, when you say I would have to render from the start can you describe how I would do this?

Sorry I'm quite a beginner with Premiere.

Thanks in advance.

Hi gwhPoster,

It seems like an issue with cache corruption. Please try to clean the cache files (FAQ: How to clean (delete or trash) media cache files? ) and check if it's working.

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Hi Sumeet,

Sorry it took so long to reply as I've just found time to get back to this project. I followed your instructions and deleted all files in the media cache folder located at the following url on my Mac:

Mac: /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common

I emptied the trash as indicated in the help article and relaunched Premiere Pro, but I'm still having the same problem - still getting the 5 conform errors.

Do you have any other help that you could offer?

Thanks again
