New Here ,
Aug 07, 2017 Aug 07, 2017

I am accustomed to going to edit/ preferences/ audio hardware to change my audio output from speaker to headphone.

but since doing a software upgrade I cant find where to select headphones.  Can anyone help?

My guess is that you have to do that in Windows   Here is what happens on my laptop when I plug in the headphones

I used to be able to select speaker or headphone audio output via preferences/ audio hardware

but since the upgrade these option has been removed.

I expect there is a new pathway but I cant find it.

I believe it’s the headphone’s hardware that will matter. I’ve got to listen to many types of ear/headphones, it would sound different depending on the phones you’re using.
