Automatic Beat Detection

Explorer ,
Nov 24, 2024 Nov 24, 2024

It's 2024, how can we get an engineer to apply to work at Adobe to create the basic fundamental feature of Automatic Beat Detection? There is the Beat Edit plugin available and although they've probably made millions by now providing these basic features, it's buggy and doesn't work with the latest version of Premiere Pro. There are other threads inquiring now for almost 10 years, is Adobe refusing or they don't have the technical knowledge on how to implement this very basic fundamental feature that every other competing app offers?

Your assumption that somene making a plugin has made millions is totally bizarre. Hopefully, they make enough just to cover what they'd have made for the same time expenditure working in a company. Most often, it's something they do on the side as they can't make enough to do it for their living.

This is a function that if you need it, you need it bad ... and the vast majority of editors don't use much if ever.

So it's not a question of "Adobe" being recalcitrant or stupid or anything, just of 5,000 competing priority needs. Most of mine ain't ever gonna make the high priority list, which is a bummer for me, but well ...  not many of the rest of you would ever use them.

So I understand that whole priority thing.

What is very strange is that Adobe Premeire Elements has automatic beat detection in it and when I upgraded to Adobe Premeire Pro 25 it does not. So Adobe has this functionality in the base version and not in the Pro version by design. This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. I have to do more work now than before.

What specifically are you trying to achieve? Are you trying to create markers on beats?

Have a look at this tutorial:

Try Automation Blocks extension for Premiere Pro:

Marker -> Music Beats

Try to sort out the BPM of your music track, there are tools for that

or you might find them in the description when you bought your track.Screen Shot 2025-03-18 at 9.57.26 AM.pngexpand image
