For Premiere Pro, in the 3D Settings | Adjust Settings With Preview screen, it's important to select Let the 3D Application Decide. I leave everything else set to the default. (And it's possible that Let the 3D App Decide is the default as well).

I've never changed the nVidia settings, and have never had to.

Just chiming in here to report that we (seem) to have addressed several long-standing issues with playback on our systems by following gaming-centric control panel setting recommendations. Default most certainly did not work for us.
There was another thread here where a user commented that swapping his GTX1080 out for a cheapo entry level card resulted in better performance. I can attest to the fact that numerous troubleshooting sessions involving Windows 10, Adobe, Dell, Black Magic and EVGA got us nowhere. Tweaking the control panel settings for our workstations (Dell Precision 7910) as if they were gaming rigs finally realized the performance 980tis should be capable of.

Its an old thread.
Pr has changed under the hood.
If you dont know what it all means leave it default.
No need to install Nvidia experience and all that stuff, just the driver.
