Hello everyone,
I finished my video but its a blank screen. I exported it thinking it wouldnt be a blank screen but it was not. I tried going to project settings, general, and changing the video rendering as ALL the youtube videos said to no avail. Can anyone help?
Hey @Derrek280044586xkh,
Happy Saturday! Sorry about your experience with a black screen. That's no good. Typically, the issue is related to your GPU. Have you installed the latest studio drivers? Give us full details about your computer system for more help. Please also give us info about the video file. What is the codec, frame size, frame rate, etc. You can right-click a clip and choose "Properties" to get the info. Paste the screenshot here. Another way to check detailed info on a clip is to

Hope we can help you after getting more info.

Hey Kevin,
thanks. I am self taught and I honestly don't know anything you are saying, but I will try to follow your instructions. I don't know if I installed the latest studio drivers.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows version: 22H2 Edition Windows 11 Pro.
my sequence settings are attached, but its not just one clip, its multiple clips. But i will also add the info for a clip.
What has happened was I finished 2 videos. However, certain times when I was working on the videos they went blank. If i edited some of the captions the video would appear again. I thought nothing of it. I exported the 2 videos and they are either completely black with audio, or some parts of the video are there and the rest is a black screen. Sometimes when I open the project they are entirely black.

Hi,
Can you check to see which GPU you have? Check out the NVIDIA or AMD control panel for details on the GPU. Your sequence is a 4K one but your footage is 720P, so you are scaling up the image. Scaling might be a factor.
As a test, with the footage, right-click on it and choose New Sequence from Clip. Does the clip appear then? Let us know.
Thanks,
Kevin

Thats just one of my clips. Most of my clips are 4k. I shared a clip of me talking in my webcam, but i delete the video aspect and replace it with another video, so its just the audio, though when I do show myself that is scaled down. But again, most of my footage is 4k.
Im an adult but as a school teacher, you need to treat me like a kindergarten student, because I honestly don't know anything you're asking me. I have to google everything about my GPU and how to find it. With that said, I believe my GPU is CUDA GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 with Max-Q design. If that isn't what you are looking for, you will have to give me a step by step thats super simple, like, "step1: Turn on your computer." Like super simple.
I chose a different clip because I dont remember which one i picked, but it did show up when a created a new sequence from clip.
Everything I have done, I have done with the 100 or so videos I have made. I have never changed anything. I have encountered errors before, but they were usually pretty easy fixes. This particular problem has been difficult because all youtube videos Ive watched failed in fixing my problem and I dont really understand what youre saying, but I am trying.

Sorry about that, Derek,
I'll try to give you better directions that you can understand more easily. Premiere Pro is heavily reliant on the graphics processing card called a GPU. It is a "card" that is inserted into the motherboard of your computer or laptop. It provides added power for handling H.264 video, popular with a lot of cameras and mobile devices. You see, this H.264 format is extraordinarily hard for computers to handle unless all the computer components are working well together. Periodically, the software that runs the GPU needs to be updated over time. It's called a "driver." You can tell if your driver is working OK if you choose Help > System Compatibility Report. You should check that out. That panel should tell you more info about the GPU and other components that might need updating.
It's an educated guess of mine that your "black screen" might have to do with an outdated GPU driver. It does no harm, only good, to update the driver to a more current one.
Thanks for telling me the make and model of the GPU. If you like, you can download the driver here: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/205035/en-us/ and install it.
Follow the directions for the installation the NVIDIA installer gives you. Once you follow the directions, restart the computer and restart Premiere Pro. See if your problem has subsided.
Please come back with any questions. Today is my day off, so my response may be delayed. Sorry about that.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,
no need to apologize, I am just super ignorant in this stuff. As a self taught videographer I have knowledge in areas that I use all the time, but the areas we are discussing I have very little knowledge in. Everything you mentioned in your most recent post as basic as it was, I did not know. Thank you for that! Again, no need to apologize. You are taking time on your off day to help me. I really really appreciate that!
Ok, it said no conflicts to report. This is what really pisses me off. All this time I was re exporting one of the files, and now it worked. I am happy it worked, but I have no idea what the problem was. I would rather have it just not work and figure it out with help then it works now.
Do you have an idea why it worked now? I will try the next video now.
But I do appreciate your help.
As for the driver, is the link you sent for an updated one from my own?

So, one of the videos ended up working. The other is just blank except for a couple if pictures in the time line. All the video clips are black but audio works. I clicked a clip and created a sequence from clip and it showed up. I guess I should install that GPU and hope for he best?

Hello Kevin,
I did the GPU and restarted everything. The video that wasnt black now has the images back. Even in the export it looks good, The final video has finally be exported and it worked! Thank you so much, Kevin!
