I am using a Sony HDR-FX1 camera and attempting to capture HDV footage that was recorded on a DV tape, the camera is connected via firewire. The controls, start, stop, etc. work fine in the capture window;however, there is no video image, it is black screen. There are no error messages. All my settings in Premiere Pro CC and the camera are on HDV. Video footage is captured properly when recording, but with no image in the capture window it makes the process very awkward. Any solutions?

Not uncommon issue:
Might want to resort to HDVSplit (old but still valid).

I looked at the HDVSplit, but it is such old technology and has not been updated since 2006 that I do not want to download it. I can't believe there is not a fix for this if it is not an uncommon issue.

Maybe I'm thinking of using Premiere with my Matrox capture hardware years ago, maybe not, but what I recall was that I could see the HDV source in the capture window only until I started capturing, then it would go black. Can you not watch the video on the camera LCD to know where you are at in the footage? I know it's less than ideal, but it's something.
Thanks
Jeff

I use Matrox as well, but in my case I can not see anything in the capture window before or during capture. Of course I can work from the LCD on my camera, but that is extremely cumbersome. If the software features a capture window you should be able to use it. Can't believe Adobe does not have a fix for this.
