Is the font PostScript Type 1? If so, support for PostScript Type 1 has ended.
Font file formats like TrueType and OpenType should work as expected.

Hi Ben etc.,
I sympathize - I've had trouble with Adobe fonts in premiere in past including Roboto. Lots of dances installing and uninstalling and relaunching and instructions to "clear cache" etc. Adobe seemed to have trouble tracking it's own stuff.
I sort of just gave up on Adobe fonts. Too much hassle.

As with all dependencies, it is important to use a supported file format - even fonts.
That the Adobe subscription plans include access to the entire Adobe Fonts library fully licensed for use in any of our projects (including non-Adobe applications) is kind of the deal of the century. I suppose things could change, but currently we'll never see messages like "this font is not licensed for use in your organization" (Monotype users are likely to be familiar that). Also, missing fonts are a thing of the past in current Adobe applications with Adobe Fonts. If we open a project or document with font syncing enabled (on by default in Creative Cloud Desktop), missing Adobe Fonts will sync automatically.

Hi Warren Heaton,
You have not acknowledged the reality that Adobe fonts sometimes don't work and require problem solving.
A simple search of this forum will provide examples of cases where this is true.
