Can't import "braw" files, if they are located in folders

Community Beginner ,

Sometimes I can't import braw files to Premiere Pro, when they are located in folders. If I put all the files in the top level directory of my hard drive, then all just works fine. When I put the files back in to a folder and try to relink the media,  it doesn't work too.

I have now tested this with four differend hard disks, but it doesn't matter which hard disk I use.

(Windows 10 with the latest Premiere Pro Version, latest braw codec installed)

Can somebody please help me?

-Tim

well I'm on a mac and in the US and it seems unlikely to me but you might try removing the umlaut.  Also, not sure how windows handles permissions.  What happens if you create a new folder at the root, and copy one of the files into it?  Will it now import into Premiere.  And does this just happen with braw files?  Sorry, Just saw Stan Jones post.   Great minds think alike...

just a shot in the dark, but are there any non-standard characters in the folder names?  Certain characters such as / . etc. can cause problems...

Hi mgrenadier,

thanks for your answer.
This is the file path "D:\2020_02 - Über uns ONMA\01_Import\01_Video\Rohmaterial\A001_02212333_C001.braw".

Just normal characters I think?

Odd. Yes, files look okay. You're set for German?

I would test further by making a test folder 1 and 2 deep that are very simple. d:\test\testfile.braw and d:\test\test\testfile.braw

Total characters can at times be an issue, but that does not appear to be the case here.

What are the permissions of the folder(s) that have problems.

Stan

Hi mgrenadier,

thanks for your reply. The suggestion with the "Umlaute" was really the problem.

Without these characters Premiere was able to read all my files.

Thank you very much for your quick and friendly help.

who woulda thunk?  I really thought it was a long shot but I've learned that it can't hurt to throw something out.  Glad I was able to help and it was such a simple fix.
