Can't move files into bins without making a copy of the file

Every time I try to move a file into a bin it makes a copy of that file and moves the copy into the bin, so I end up with duplicate files. I can't move files into bins. There is a workaround where I copy the file into the new bin and then delete the old file but it's slowing my workflow down and I want to be able to move files without making a copy.

I get a symbol of a fist and "+" sign when I try to move a file and I guess that indicates that I have inadvertently turned something on,  (see the image attached) how do I turn it off again?

Any help would be appreciated.

I get that plus sign if I press control and then drag the clip. Could you control key be stuck?

that's a good suggestion but no I don't think so

yes just tested it in "Show Keyboard Viewer" and its not stuck down.

On a sidenote, your sequence has an odd framerate (as in variable framerate).

thanks, the add framerate is because its recorded from a webcam.

You need to fix that if you don't want out of sync audio.

Its fine, please don't worry about the frame rate, its not a problem. If you have a solution for my problem that would be handy.

variable frame rates can cause intermittent and unpredictable issues so don't dismiss the possibility.
