Cannot batch remove master clip effects??

New Here ,
Sep 01, 2017 Sep 01, 2017

I have hundreds and hundreds of assets that all have master effects applied to them.  The director would like these effects removed.  To my surprise, is there seriously no way to batch remove them?  I am not talking about the "Disable master clip" menu item.  That only disables the effects, and then they can never be re-enabled, so it is basically useless.  I need a method to batch delete all effects from all master clips.

Who is the PO for this product?  I would like to have a word with them.  Adobe needs to hire a PO that understands the product.  This is a massive oversight and I don't have time to go asset by asset and remove the effects.  It seems I am going to have to hire an assistant editor to do this over the weekend, which eats heavily into our budget.

This is certainly a deal breaker for using Premiere going forward...unless I am missing it?

Sorry for the rant, but this is causing major frustration.

Using Premiere Pro 2017.1.2, v 11.0.

i'm afraid we can't batch remove. i wrote myself an autohotkey-script to make it a little easier, but even then applying revised luts to hundreds of clips is just a pain.

I'd like to see this AutoHotKey script of yours. Can you post it here, or on pastebin?

I may be able to improve it, and then add it to my large repository of other useful AHK scripts for Premiere.

Out of curiosity, why did you start using AHK with Premiere? Was it because of something you saw on this forum?

You can select all, right click and Disable Masterclip Effects, which can later be reenabled whenever you want (albeit it one clip at a time).

"I am not talking about the "Disable master clip" menu item." said Omar, nor did I. It is of no help if you want to replace effects.

"I am not talking about the "Disable master clip" menu item." said Omar

Because he believed they couldn't be reenabled.  That's untrue.

How is the master clip reenabled? When I right click 'disable master clip' is greyed out and not selectable.

I did a comparison of PP project files and I can possibly search the following:

<DisplayName>Lumetri Color</DisplayName>

<Bypass>true</Bypass>

and replace with

<DisplayName>Lumetri Color</DisplayName>

<Bypass>false</Bypass>

Select the clip in the sequence, go the Master tab in the Effect Controls panel and turn it back on.

Great, thanks Jim.

Hardly intuitive - not the right click where I disabled it nor the Lumetri panel where I added the LUT in the first place.

A toggle for that right click option would be much better.

How about just the option to NOT have Premiere do things we don't ask for? If I don't ask for a LUT, why would one be applied automatically? These "masterclip effects" make the projects HUGE, and honestly having a default lut doesn't even really help, so why can't we just turn this "feature" off????

Seriously, if a piece of software starts making decisions for me, is it really professional? This goes double if said 'feature' also makes my workflow harder (saves take a LONG time with masterclip effects applied to hundreds of clips -- again I didn't even ask for this!).

I'm starting to get fed up. Adobe, please don't forget the pro's when you go after the newbies. Give us options PLEASE!!!

This is why I switched to Resolve.  All new projects in 2018 will be cut, colored and finished entirely in Resolve.
