Cannot drag/place objects in Program monitor

Participant ,

Hello!

To move objects in program monitor I have been able to either click on a clip, then click on "Motion" then move or resize the obkect in Programmonitor, or just click on the object in the Program monitor, thus highlighting it, and then move / resize it. Now suddenly this does not work. I cannot drag any items in the program monitor. I save and restart, then it is ok again for a while, affter which it stops working again! Very annoying!

Anyone knows what is wrong? I have windows 10 and Premiere Pro CC 12.0.0 Build 224.

Thanks in advance, Håkan

Hi,

This is an old post. The potential solutions are:

  • Do not run the app as an Admin
  • Set Audio Hardware Preferences/Settings' Default Input > No Input
  • Delete media cache or reset preferences from the Reset Options dialog box. Press Shift at launch for access.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

In reponse to the "working from the SD card" I re-imported the orginal media files onto my hard drive in a new folder. In other words, I started the project from scratch.

I have also noticed that the issue returns after the computer goes into screen saver mode or I put it to sleep to walk away from my desk. When I log back into the computer, Premiere won’t allow me to select items in the program monitor.

It is almost as if the feature of selecting an object in the program monitor times out when you are not actively using the program.

The first video is showing how clicking in the prgram monitor will select nothing, then I relauncehd the program and now I can select items in the program monitor. The seond video is all of the program settings and version number. (our company has to "approve" updates before they will allow them into our system. That is why it I may not have the newest version)

These look like graphics. Are they overly large in dimension? What kind of graphics are these: JPEG, TIFF? Are these graphics stored on the Mac HD?

Have you tried clicking on the word, "Motion" in the Effect Controls panel first, and then dragging in the Program Monitor? That's always been my failsafe.

I hope we can help you. Sorry for the issue.

Cheers,
Kevin

They are graphics, png files on my hard drive inside the same project folder but in their own folder of Graphics. It doesn't matter what the media is. I can be trying to move the video file, enlarge and move to center the subject. I can do those things in the effect controls tab/motion by typing in numbers into the Position fields, but I can not move them in the program monitor window. It doesn't matter what I am trying to do with any type of media, I can not select the item by double clicking in the project monitor. I only sent you that section of video, because that is all I could share on a public format.

I will try that next time the feature is disabled and let you know.

By the way, I appreciate the movies. Helpful.
