"Latest" as a descriptor is insufficient data, especially considering these threads last for years.

What is the specific version number?

Thanks.

The first thing that comes to mind is Step 4d below.  If implementing that doesn't resolve the issue, report back.

That link Jim provided has several sections (the numbered parts) with lettered sub-sections. He compiled it from the most common fixes for various problems posted in verbiage by a fair number of those of us that answer rather a lot of the posts here.

So ... open the link in a new tab, and you've got a wealth of trouble shooting info. To see the one he suggested, just scroll down to Section 4 Subsection d ...

And the reasoning behind that subsection is that the more applications, utilities, and progams installed on your computer, the more processes will install and run themselves in the background just because the computer is on. Every one of those processes takes a bit of CPU & RAM; not much each, but ... someone the other day posted (as requested) a list from Task Manager showing processes running ... with over 150 processes logged into the CPU. Bill Gehrke, the expert on building & tuning rigs for PrPro, noted that his machine has only 39 processes running in the background. And though slightly lower in specs than that person's, had no lag whatever.

thanks Neil it was 3 am working late on a project didnt even see the link ( doh ! )

will try Jim's recommandations and see if that improves my situation.

I tried looking for Bill Gherke's windows optimized settings but could

only find his optimization for window 7  http://ppbm5.com/Win7Tuning.html

Could i apply those for Win 10?

I realize that my computer specs are a bit on the low side ( RAM & Processor )

Hope i can manage with i have for now until i upgrade.

I'd suggest going to the Hardware forum, and posting a query there about how to get the most out of the gear you've got, and if there are worthwhile suggestions for tweaking/upgrading it that make sense. Between Bill, RoninEdits, Jeff Pulera (safeharbor11), and some of the others there, you get some high-horsepower knowledge & experience of setting up computers to run PrPro.

One of the things off the bat, is having two newer SSD drives and using the ingest/create-proxy workflow would be advised for that machine.

You might get better performance with more RAM, but the i5 processor may also be slowing you down.

Which processor is it and what speed?
