Changing scratch disk settings for preview files in productions is not working

Hi all,

I'm working with premiere productions and I'm running into an issue I've never experienced before.  In my production settings for scratch disk, I have set video previews and audio previews to a specific location on my external media drive (not the same as the production location).  Everytime I render something, it is saving those previews to the default location of "same as production."  When I go back to my production settings it is still set to the location I want correctly, but the preview files still end up in the same location as the production.

Here's my computer set-up and premiere info...

iMac Pro 3GHz 10-core Intel Xeon W

OS Big Sur (Version 11.7.5)

Premiere Pro Version 23.4.0 (Build 56)

Has anyone else run into this problem?  Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Lance

Okay... I have resolved this issue, but I'm not sure why this was happening to begin with.  The folder where my production was located is on the same drive as the folder where I wanted my previews to render to (to be clear... different folders on the same drive).  This shouldn't make a difference, but apparently it did.  Once I changed the production scratch disk for previews to a completely different drive, it stopped putting them in the default location of "same as production."  Once I did that, I was then able to go back to the production settings, change it to the folder I was originally trying to save the previews to, and it held the setting correctly.  Go figure.  Fixed, but perplexed.
