clips in sequence have changed since downloading most recent update

Hi all,

Ok, I don't even know what to name this post, but if anyone can help I will be eternally grateful, this is the problem...

I had a sequence almost finished. Each time I made a change I did a 'save as', so by now I have 27 individual saves of the entire sequence, each slightly different because of individual changes to the sequence. I have not worked on the sequence for a week, but two days ago I downloaded the latest update for Premiere Pro. I opened the sequence today and the entire middle section, something along the lines of 24 clips are all different clips. No problem I thought, I will just go back to the previous save - NOPE! Every single save - all 27 of them, have changed and represent the same media, which is not the correct media.

Can anyone please let me know if they have experienced this, and more importantly, is there a fix, without having to completely re-import all the clips and re-edit them into the timeline again.

I hope anyone can help...pleeeassse I am desperate.

thanks in advance

Presumably the clip sources (correct & incorrect) are named the same (eg C0001.mp4) but are in different folders?

Can you right click on an incorrect clip & relink to the correct clip? If so probably going to be quickest to do this for all incorrect clip.

Hi Trevor,

I am creating a trailer from 6 different Episodes of a show. So yes, source clips have the same names...eg, Episode 2, Episode 3 etc. There are 6 Episodes in all, but the problem has only occurred with Episodes 2-5. The incorrect clips that have replaced the correct clips are all from the same episodes, which is interesting. So an incorrect Episode 2 clip has replaced a correct Episode 2 clip and so on.

When I did the edit, I loaded the entire episode into the source monitor, then cut small sections out and dropped them into the timeline, I did not rename the tiny edited sections. It almost appears as though PP is looking at the correct source clips but hte wrong timecode, and therefore is put in the wrong section... does that make any sense?

I'm kinda interested in three things.

1. does this have anything to do with the update

2. how can I fix it (if at all) without re-editing the trailer again.

3. Should I have done something different in my workflow to name the clips differently to make sure PP finds the right clip.

My understanding was that I should have been able to just cut small sections from the episode and use either , or . to drop them into the timeline as needed, without having to copy and rename them for PP to find them later.

I am only new to PP so this is all a little confusing.

Cheers Trevor

Ok sounds more like the footage timecode or frame rate may be interpreted differently for those episodes?

Hi Trevor,

Yes, I thought the same thing, not frame rate because all the episodes were animated with the same frame rate, but I do believe for some reason, post latest update, PP has picked up different timecode...two questions.

1. Why would it have done that?

2. Is there a quick fix, or do I have to scroll through material again and reinsert the clips I want?

I hope you can help

Cheers Nige

PS. Happy Easter
