Not quite sure how this hasn't been fixed yet - or am I missing something - but when you consolidate clips in a sequence (with the Project Manager), the first clips of each video will be offline every time.
So, I have a video that is called "video.mov". I edit several bits of it into a sequence. I consolidate that sequence. Now I have several new clips just from those edits.
The first one is called "video.mov", the second "video_001.mov" and so on. Every clip from 001 on is online as it should be (the consolidated material), the first one, only called "video.mov" now searches (after deleting original files) for the original mov - but it should have linked to the consolidated one.
Can you please post a screenshot of the Project Manager window before you are consolidationg?

Thanks, there is no option that would reflect that issue, but here is a screenshot.
Wouldn't happen with "Rename Media Files" checked, but shouldn't happen in any case.

I'm trying to replicate the issue.
However, would you consider "Collect files and copy to new location" Instead?
Can you let me know what exactly you want to achieve? Maybe we can find a better workflow for it.

Sorry, what do you mean? "Collect files and copy to new location" is something different, it's not consolidating.
Anyway, after this "bug" happening two times now, I just wanted to replicate with a test project and it doesn't happen anymore. Hm, well then.

"Collect files and copy to new location" only copies the files used in your sequence to a new location and creates an associated project.
Consolidating, does the same thing BUT instead of copying the files, it transcodes them to a format of your choice. This is helpful if you are working in a project with mixed file types (avi, mov, etc.)

Yes, I know the difference, that's why I said it's something different ;o)
And no, actually, consolidating does not the same thing.
"Collect files" collects all (original) files and just puts them into a new folder. Which is quite useless anyway (only for people who are messy probably hehe)
Consolidating just takes the actual edits, so cuts the original file in small pieces, so you only have the actual footage that you used in the edit. By itself it doesn't necessarily even mean transcoding (you can if you want).
Aaaanyway, thanks and peace out.

Hi,
Any update here on why this was happening? Same thing here, if it is a bug that's workable but the same thing keeps happening to me. Thx

Hi guys,
I have a different issue, but it's the same topic, so I just put it in here.
Yesterday I was doing some clean up and consolidating, everything was fine. But
then one project showed me a lot of Offline media after consolidating. I figured out
that the files that were missing wehre in an different folder, but in my understanding
Consolidating is "taking your edited files, the cuts, of your timeline +handels - wherever the files are located on your disks and copy them to the new transcoded folder." Then I just delete all the raw shots, and gain space.
Am I missing here someting ?
