Copy and paste WITH transcription text (Feature request?)

Explorer ,
Sep 02, 2022 Sep 02, 2022

Hello.

My process with interviews is making a "master" sequence and removing all the question-asking so it's just the condensed interview content. I create a transcript and then go through it, listening and correcting multiple typo's in the Transcript panel (more often on those with interernational accents that make it difficult.)

When I start editing the actual video, I copy and paste short clips from this master sequence, but the transcript copy does not move with it. It definitely is stuck in the sequence metadata only and NOT the clip itself. I've even found that removing clips on that master sequence jacks up the timing on all the transcripts, proving that it's connected only to the sequence, not the clips itself.

Any suggestions? This is probably not currently doable, but would be nice in the future.

Although some Adobe employees infrequently visit this community, this is typically not the best place for feature requests. Instead you can use the Help > Provide feedback feature to enlarge your chances of Adobe picking this up.

Randy,

As Richard says, not currently possible.

But see this post by staff @TeresaDemel in the Beta forum:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-discussions/text-panel-enhancements-part-2-assemble...

They are VERY actively working on captions. I have been out of town for over a week, and don't know any current issues in the Beta version. I have learned to approach the Beta very cautiously, so do not recommend using for production work. But you can install it independent of your regular release version of PR.

Staff are VERY interested in feedback on the workflow being developed. And your workflow is directly on point.

It is already possible to copy/paste captions with the media; just select them with the parts you are copying. I did some tests recently and still do not have a perfect workflow. It can be tricky if you have more than one caption track. The paste is at the target sequence CTI, and the captions will stay relative to the pasted media.

Let us know how it works, and we can help with any issues.

Stan

Thanks Stan and Richard!

I normally don't do subtitles until the final step, but that is a good suggestion to create them earlier, in my Master sequence that I'm choosing selects from. I have copy/pasted clips + subtitles into another sequence. I also posted the feature request in the Help menu. Thanks for that tip as well.
