Copy/Paste Clip from one timeline to another issue with Cursor auto selecting block to move...

When I am jumping from timeline to timeline to copy a clip from one to the other the cursor tries to move the entire timeline window when I select the second timeline. Then when I go to select the clip it pulls the timeline window as though I'm trying to move to window to a different place in the workspace. Then another issue happens the cursor becomes a SELECTION TOOL and tries to highlight clips in the timeline with this yellow box which I have no idea what that even does. This has been happening for over two years now. I'm so over it. PLEASE SEE THE VIDEO LINK I ATTACHED HERE OF MY SCREEN WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS>

Yeah I was not dragging. Just clicking once to select the second timeline to paste a clip from the other timeline. I have udpated to 2025 and I really hope I don't encounter this again. I do a stacked timeline style where I copy and paste from a stringout timeline to my rough cut assembly timeline and this bug was wrecking my flow incessantly.

@DcHaverty,

That is very odd. I see what you are describing, but I can't get it to happen. I copy from one timeline to another, no issue.

The selection box looks normal to me: If you click with the selection tool in an empty part of the timeline and drag, it changes to a plus sign and drags a selection box. I can't tell from the screen recording if you are dragging to start that or if it is just a click - which is not normal.

Since you have seen this for multiple versions, I assume you have tried resetting preferences. If not specifically, I would reset the workspace and then reset preferences if that doesn't work.

Stan

This isn't solved at all, I get the same issues even with the latest 2025 version. It's been happening for ages in my case.

I always thought my keyboard shortcuts were the issue but couldn't be bothered recreating them. After trying the stock settings I still get the issue.

Please help!

Thanks
