its 2025, Space X can catch a returning booster.
Chatgpt can write better than 98% of the human population.
Do you think we could get a version of Premiere Pro that doesn't take two steps forward and one back - that actually seamlessly works from the get go...?
25. is just crashing all the time...

If you tell us what is your exact issue so that we can better help you.
Did you try resetting the preferences?
I think this solved it - I think the preferences reset solved it. I generally stopped resetting preferences some years ago because I think I was told it wasn;t as necessary as it once was, but this helped.
Thank you
What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?
If NVIDIA graphics, make sure to use the latest Studio Driver from NVIDIA (NOT the Game Driver).

Those drives are nearly full.
That may be a contributing factor.

As @Peru Bob writes your disks are almost full and that is a indeed major issue, even for SSD´s. You should aim at having at least 10% free space on any disk. More than 10% is better. Anything less degrades the performance big time and that will cause issues for Premiere Pro since the disk/disks fails to sustain a continuous steady data flow that Premiere Pro wants/needs/demands.
For example, if your exports fails or throw error messages or that the timeline updates slow, the low available disk space is to blame. Just ask ChatGPT about it! 😉

Sure in an ideal world I would love to leave more than 10% redundancy, but unfortunately I live in the real world, and these were sent by another editor, I had no issue with these same drives with 2024, Just as soon as I went over to 2025...
By my point is a bigger one, it always seems as if its two steps forward one back with Adobe.
I've been using NLE's for 35 years, why are we still getting bugs and crashes on such a sophisticated system when AI can do literally anything? I love Premiere, I'm just looking for more perfection...

also every time I select a clip in the Timeline it now selects the Effects Control window and not the Timeline window - an extremely irritating update...!
I pay £40 a month for this, we've had NLE Software for 30 years, its not good enough to have basic issues in updates.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble.
This guide hasn't been updated for Premiere Pro 2025, but most of it applies to fixing common problems.
Troubleshooting Premiere Pro: How to Diagnose and Fix Common Problems in 2024
https://blog.frame.io/2022/11/14/troubleshooting-common-premiere-pro-problems/
If 2024 still seems more stable, I'd consider taking advantage of being able to have Premiere Pro 2024 and 2025 installed at the same time. Of course, take extra care to differentiate the project versions. I include "_pr24" and "_pr25" in the project filenames. Of course, if a good amount of work has already been done in 2025, this is easier said than done.
You can try the public beta of 2025. You should be good to open and save the same 25.x project file in the current 25 release and the current 25 beta release.
Also, sometimes importing a 2024 project file into a new 2025 project file helps resolve a difficult-to-diagnose issue.

When selecting a Clip Boundary in the Timeline, could you be clicking the FX Badge at the upper right? That opens the Effects Settings panel.

Yes ! You are right...But when the timeline is Zoomed out the FX button expands to fill almost the whole clip, so you have to Zoom into the timeline just to select the clip in Timeline.
Thanks Warren I appreciate our help on this...

Hi Warren - so have I downloaded a Beta version? Is 2025 in Beta?
Many thanks

There are two separate applications:
• Premiere Pro 2025
• Premiere Pro 2025 (Beta)
They are separate installations via Creative Cloud Desktop and separate application folders in the macOS Applications folder.
if you right-click a Premiere Pro project file in the Finder and go to Open With, they show as separate applications there as well.
