I have .r3d files spread across multiple external drives from a shoot and I want to create pro-res proxies of from  but not import them into Premiere. So bascically, transcode files from a series of drives so that the proxies are exported onto a separate drive that I will be editing on so I can orgainze them into bins and upload the project from there. Tried to do thi sME but all the files fialed. Any ideas?

Well, you have described how PP / ME work. When using the proxy workflow you do not import the proxies into PP. You would import the real files, select them in the project, right-click and create proxies. So, was there something else?

Thanks for the reply. Once I make the proxies I plan to format the drive the r3d files are on and edit from another on another drive. I have the footage backed up to two archival drives which will only serve to act as backups. Without the footage on the drive that I use to bring the clips into premiere, what will the proxies reference? Or I am missing something here? thanks
