If someone can please advise on any of the following as this is the first time I'm trying to use these type 4K files as well as trying to work with proxies in Pr CC version 12.1.1 (Build 10) which is the latest and greatest.
I have about 200 gopro 4k 60fps files that I'm trying to get into Pr. I realized that my computer was not going to be able to handle the files as they were all jumping and it literally took about 45 minutes to get through 3 of the files. I then tried to create proxy files (in Pr using the ingest settings with the Cineform as recommended). This still didn't work. I then went into Media Encoder and trying to do all of the files using the GoPro CineForm YUV 10-bit to create all of the proxies and then I was going to reference them from Pr hoping that would work. 1 file ended up being 50GB after the Media encoder ran and I just filled a 1TB drive with the proxies and there are still about 1/2 more to go. Obviously, I am doing something really wrong here. I want the smallest size proxy file I can get away with for editing in Pr. I tried then using the YouTube 480 SD which create a small file. The question I have before I spend to much more time, on top of the 4 days I've been trying to figure this out, is this: Can I use the YouTube encoded proxies al lin one directory, point my media browser in Pr to that directory, edit in Pr, and then when I render my file product, will is correctly reference the 4K video files so that my quality is going to be from the 4K filming? I just don't want to get all the way through this and find out that it will not work with the high quality, which was the point in the first place. Any and all pointers or suggestions will be greatly appreciated as I'm really stuck on how I should be doing this.
Thank you.

Editing requires LOTS of storage. If you need more, get it. Don't try to avoid or work around this reality.
