'Creation Date' metadata is wrong??

Community Beginner ,

When recording video on separate devices I made sure all the times were set correctly so they'd be able to be edited in chronological order in Premiere. All of the dates/times are therefore correct in OS X Finder, but when I import to Premiere many of them are in the wrong time zone (i.e. 5 or 6 hours behind....). This has totally ruined my planned edit...!

Is there any way to force Premiere to just use the 'Creation Date' or 'Captured On' date that Finder sees???

Hi peanutismint,

when I import to Premiere many of them are in the wrong time zone (i.e. 5 or 6 hours behind....).

That is odd! Are you importing your media files from the Media Browser?

Thanks,

Kulpreet Singh

Yes I am. Also I must correct myself, one of my devices was not set to the correct time zone so all files were created 5 hours behind the local time, but I corrected these files in a metadata editor and now whilst Finder displays all the correct times, Premiere still displays what I must assume are the original times it's still getting from somewhere (despite both the date created and date modified being corrected).

I've looked all through the files for any lasting sign of the incorrect dates but they've all been corrected, seemingly everywhere EXCEPT Premiere. I just think Premiere should probably get its 'date created and date modified' dates from Finder, rather than elsewhere.... That would make the most sense, wouldn't it?

It seems that Premiere is still taking the date of creation embedded in the original files and is not recognizing your edited one.

Which tool did you use to make those edits/corrections?

It was called 'A Better Finder Attributes 6'. If only I could find the metadata attribute that Premiere thinks is 'date created' then I could bring it in line with the rest of my OS....

I'm having the same issue... Sort of...

I recorded all my footage in late May of this year. When I import into Mac Documents, the date and time all coincide correctly. As soon as I import into the bin in Premiere, everything is out of order. The metadata changes to todays date that they were imported into the bin.
