Hello, I have noticed that the difference matte is gone on Premiere Pro. What happened to it, and Is there a replacement effect?

Thanks!

The Difference Matte is still there but it has been moved to the "Obsolete folder". This normally means there is a better alternative and it will likely be removed in a future version.

Under 'Opacity' in the Effects Control panel, change the blend mode to Difference there.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. I was using it from the"Obsolete folder" but I see it's now gone from the latest Beta version. I will check out the Opacity tab though! Much appreciated 🙂

Mike's right ...  the Obsolete folder has never been on the new Mac chipped builds, even in 24.x. It's already been "gone" there. And they had an announcement in the public beta forum awhile back, that as of the end of the 24.x series of builds, the entire Obsolete folder goes buh-bye. Gone. On all platforms.

As we've not seen a new public beta build for Premiere (or Ae for that matter!) for about a week, and it's August, I'm guessing the next public beta build will be the first release of any 25.x version. Which, again, will not have the Obsolete folder on any platform.

You can open a version of Premiere Pro that does have the Matte effect, save it as a preset, export it (.prfpset) and then import it into the latest version of Premiere Pro that you have. It worked for me, I hope it helps you.
