Hello all,
I wonder if anyone can help. I am having this weired issue with playback on the latest version of PP Version 22. Anytime I attempt to do double speed playback be it on the timeline OR on the preview window, the video freezes, I can hear the audio but video freezes! Really frustrating as I edit long interviews and this feature is key.
I dont have the same issue however with my previous PP Version 15.4. This tells me it's nothing to do with drive etc as I am editing from the same drive SSD and only editing 1080 mp4 footage. Also, when I switch over to PP 15.4, works all fine, back to PP 22, freezing double speed so it's clearly a version of software bug.
Problem is, I've created all Mogrt files now in PP22 so I can't even revert back to PP 15 as my Morgrt and other resources are no incompatible!
Please help.
Thanks

Hey guillaumec44441302,
There is a new beta out now, 22.4. Can you check that out?
Thanks,

Hi everyone,
Sorry for this problem again. We have improved this workflow in the latest beta build.
Please check out the latest beta build version 22.5.0.29(or higher) from the creative cloud and let us know how it goes there.
You can download the latest Premiere Pro Beta build from Creative Cloud --> Beta apps --> Premiere Pro (Beta)
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/creative-cloud-public-beta.html
If you still face this issue, please share your media files(& project) here and we will check at our end https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/share.html
I hope it will help.
Thanks,
Mayjain

I have had the same issue for ages too. But I'm worried the beta version does not work, and I won't be able to open my project with a lower version (e.g. 22.4) and lose my project.

In case anyone is still having this issue in mid 2022, I solved it by switching to an older version of premiere pro.

I finally solved it (by switching to Davinci Resolve).
It blew my mind that Adobe left a bug like this for 1.5 years until it became impossible to use the software for time sensitive work.

I'm still having this issue in March 2023, running a 2 camera multi-cam sequence at 720p, with 8 audio channels, this is a show I've edited in the past identical setting across the board with no issues, I usual playback at 2x speed while switch cameras, I have never had any issues until now, I'm running on Premiere v23.2 on a Mac Studio M1 Max on MacOS Monterey 12.4.
The issue is when I go to playback at 2x speed by double tapping L and when I try to hit Space to stop it doesn't respond for almost a Minute or more. I even had to force quit Premiere since it wouldn't stop after a few minutes of trying to do so.

Update: I downgraded to v23.0 which fixed the issue. Something seems to have broken in a newer update.
