Effect Keyboard shortcut

I am relatively new to editing, only a few months experience, but i have gained a few presets that are working well, but i would like to know if there is ANY way to add an effect to a keyboard shortcut, I am aware that in premiere that this is not possible, and that you can use LuaMacros and AutoHotKey, but neither work for me, is there ANY way you can do this?
