Effects control panel : no value graphs for positions ?

Explorer ,
Oct 04, 2018 Oct 04, 2018

Hello, In Premiere Pro CC V12, I am animating an image's position. In the Effects control panel , I cannot find value graphs for positions, only velocity graphs.

What's strange is that for other parameters, such as scale or rotation, both value and velocity graphs are available. But for position, only the velocity graph exists.

Any help welcome, thanks

To adjust Position value, Premiere Pro was designed to work on this in the Program Monitor.Just click on the 'position' property in the Effect Controls panel, this will show you the position on the motion path in the program monitor, so adjust the value by moving the position point (not the anchor point). To adjust Position value, Premiere Pro was designed to work on this in the Program Monitor.Just click on the 'position' property in the Effect Controls panel, this will show you the position on the motion path in the program monitor, so adjust the value by moving the position point (not the anchor point). If your playhead is right on the position keyframe you wanna change value to, moving the position point in the program monitor will set it to its new value. If you are before or after the position keyframes you created andyou move the position point in the program monitor, it will create a new position keyframe value.

This is really easier than adjusting position value in the graph editor, so that was left to 'scale' and the otherproperties, since those are hard to adjust in the program monitor. Remember, Premiere Pro is for video editors,so the simpler, the better... But if you feel that this could be a useful feature, you can open a feature request.

Thanks for taking the time to explain how it works. Now I understand. However, I don't agree with what you said that it is easier that way. Standard animation curves and their time/space relationship are the easier way to go. And most artist in the animation business are used to this.

The Premiere Pro workflow for position is weird. And the graph editor is not handy at all.

Nuke Studio is not as nice as Premiere Pro, but at least it has standard animation curves for any kind of animated element, it has a practical graph editor, and for animation, it is much better to use.

So... where can I send a feature request?

Bye

No problem you are welcome, I meant it might be easier for video editors not motion designers (maybe, maybe not)

For me, as a motion designer who uses Premiere Pro a lot, I agree with you ! and I will vote for your feature request if you wanna post it here :
