Hi,
Every time I try to create a new project in Encore, the program crashes.
When I try to open an old Encore file, I get a message "ACCESS DENIED"
The program ran fine last month and I have no idea what would cause this
problem and would appreciate any suggestions!
Thank You,
Michael Colten

Just as a test, hit your Windows key, type Encore, right click on it and choose "open as Administrator". See if that makes any difference.

Hi Michael,
Which version of Encore & OS are you on?
Do you have Admin rights on this machine?
Thanks,

Thank You Kulpreet,
I have the latest Premiere Pro CC on my computer but Encore CS6 is the last version of Encore available.
I deleted the entire CS6 Production Suite and reinstalled it but Encore still crashes.
I run A Windows 7 64 bit system with 16Gb Ram.
I know Adobe doesn't support Encore anymore, but I pay for the Premiere Pro CC app each year and all of my
videos as useless to me unless I can convert them and burn them to a DVD with Encore!
Do you have any suggestions? I am the only user so I assume I have Admin rights!
I appreciate your time and effort! I

Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help

Thanks John,
I followed your instructions and clicked " run as administrator but it still crashes and won't let me open any old project, dvd or blu-ray.
I deleted the shortcut and created a new one from the Encore start program and I still cannot open or run any projects.
Adobe won't support Encore even though I subscribe to the latest Premiere Pro CC each year.
These Premiere files are useless if Encore won't open and allow me to burn DVDs or Blu-ray discs.
Thanks for the suggestion and I would appreciate any other ideas to correct this problem!
Thanks again,
Michael Colten

We need more specific feedback on what steps you are taking and what happens.
Do the test cvid suggests (run Encore from the programs, not a shortcut, and run it "as administrator").
Does the dialog open that includes old projects, "new project," etc.?
If you click on "new project" what happens?
Make sure you have no DVD/BD disks in your drives when you open Encore.
Are you working off of an internal or external drive?
When you reinstalled CS6, did you run the cleaner as recommended? If not, try resetting preferences and then do cvid's test.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift while starting the program. Deletes AppPreferences.xml; program does not start.
Now start Encore; preferences file appeared to be created on exit.
See "12. Recreate the Adobe Encore Preferences File" in this link for windows:
http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-projects-encore-windows.html
This problem may require resetting workspaces. Note in the above link that that requires manually resetting the preferences. But try the easy fix first!
Please let us know if this works.

Thank You Stan!
I did try Cvid01's solution and it appears to have worked!
I have kept your answer in case it isn't a permanent fix and I will
follow your reinstall directions if needed.
I appreciate your help as it is difficult now that Adobe still charges each year
for Premiere Pro CC subscriptions but will not support Encore!
I have been buying Adobe apps since 1996 and am disappointed in the lack of
support for DVD and Blu-Ray production.
Thank You Again!

Thank You very much for your quick fix to my Encore crashes!
Your method seemed to do the trick even though I went to the program file and opened
Encore directly from there and clicked "Run As Administrator" with no luck!
You saved me from deleting my entire C Drive and reinstalling everything!!
Thank You again!

You are welcome. What it means is that somehow Encore was not opening with Administrator rights. You may have to reset your Administrator rights. Glad to see things are working.
