I doubt this is the right place to post this question but I can't seem to find a forum for Encore...
I have used Encore now for a long time but am really having trouble with encoding. I've tried large video files and small, I've tried tweaking the encode settings all to no end. I've tried restarting my computer, re-exporting the videos from Premiere... nothing.
Thanks!

There is no separate Encore forum in this new platform... and CS4 is old enough that nobody may be able to help
However, When you ask a question you need to provide some basic information

What is the specific error message you are getting? Are you using "transcode now" to encode, or letting Encore do it when you "build"?

Thanks for the response. There is no specific error code referenced, simply "Encoding failed."
And I have tried both letting the build process encode the videos and the transcode now option.
When I use the build option it never freezes but never progresses, I've let it run for 48 hours just to see. The program didn't freeze but it never progresses anywhere.
When I use the transcode now option it runs for a couple of seconds then fails. It seems to run a bit longer if the video file is smaller or the transcode settings are lower quality. Although my video files are ~300 MB and I've created a preset that uses 1 Mbps as the bit rate and still no luck.

Lol. In this case, that is the error message: "Encode Failed."
The classic version of this error occurs with long file names. This refers to the name of the actual file outside Encore: renaming the timeline or alias inside Encore does not help.
Trial and error eventually showed that 80 works and 81 fails (including spaces).
It may occur whether the transcoding is done by transcode now or during a full build.

My final thought is this MAY be similar to a problem in Premiere Pro, so see if reading the links below helps

As John's links indicate, there are many issues that can cause encoding problems. But let us know first what your filename lengths are. Encore will have problems with filenames with "improper" characters (slashes and various other characters), but these typically cause errors before the transcode/build. So the "encode failed" error message has been associated with filename length.
