I created a subtitel track 1 (german), after burning a DVD or Folder, I'm getting up to 3 subtitel tracks

German Track 1

Track 2

Track 3

some Player are showing only the correct Track 1 others all 3, and only Track 3 is showing the correct content, not 1 (German)

I'm having this effect with VLS-Player, but also with some Hardware-Players

like that the subtitels ar useless for clients, can anybody give some help?

I have found that there doesn't always have to be a way, unfortunately.

I just created a small project, added one subtitle track (called it DE for kicks), track 1. Set project to show subtitles by default.

TMT plays the correct subtitle track, and shows the correct subtitle track. I can turn subtitles on and off using a navigation submenu.

VLC 2.1.5 (older version, but all our versions are doing the same thing) shows the subtitles, but when I look at the subtitle track, it shows track 3 (of 3 track

I don't recall this problem being reported before.

Please post a screenshot of your Encore flowchart and the Encore timeline showing the video, audio, and subtitles tracks.

Clarification on your comment above about a hardware player. Was this a burned disk on a set top player hooked to a TV?

VLC is not a reliable test.

Can you select the correct tab by TV remote using subtitle track number? And by using language drop down?

yes burned disk and separate player hooked

I cannot reproduce the problem with that setup (now works correct), but I'm not able tu use it correctly with VLC (as written) or Windows Media-Player (no subtitels at all to select),

in this case I definitely need these free and common sofwareplayers and because it does not work correctly, I also cannot be sure that it will work with separate DVD-Players, I only have two for testing and there are so many different ones

I found others talking about exactly this problem, but unfortunately no solutions, except chnaging to another software for DVD-Menus

Sadly what you are asking is impossible.

With Blu-ray especially, VLC is on a "best effort" basis, and usually ignores all menus as well and is in all ways not a reliable player because it is incapable of decoding the mandatory AACS copy protection on pressed discs and cannot be relied upon at all.

Same issue with a lot of the free players - support for these simply cannot be guaranteed.

Also with set top players please, please remember a BD-R is *not the same thing as a Blu-ray disc* and according to SOny such discs should also not be sold as Blu-ray discs & cannot carry any Blu-ray logos because it is considered non compliant with the specifications and believe me there are a lot of early (and newer) Sony players that simply refuse to play any type of written BD-R discs because of concerns over piracy (that is the excuse given anyway)

We do this commercially and have run into the same issue with BD-R.

It's just a simple DVD, no BD and no copy protection, also the final pressed discs wil have none

same problems?

I tested it with other bought DVDs and with all everything works fine, so for me it sounds like an Encore bug or I'm making mistakes

As Neil says, many software emulators do not playback menus etc correctly. For correct testing, Total Media Theater was the only one I found that handled almost all functions correctly.

You will see many references on the VLC support site to attached srt files for subtitle playback.

That said, my quick test with an old DVD folder (made with Encore CS6) showed correct playback of basic subtitles. Well, I think they are correct, but can't get the old Encore project folder to load to check which tracks were created.

VLC 2.2.4, which appears to be the current version. What version are you using?

our clients will use WindowsMediaPlayer or Vlc

= for free and the most of them know these ones

I guess specialiced DVD-Player-soft will cause to less problems, but only a few of them will own that

VLC the latest version, I checked that at home yesterday, in office 2.2.1

My problem is, it must be a classic Film- DVD and it has to run on stand-alone classic-DVD-players and also on a computer (with non experienced users)

Attaching sidecar-subtitels in VLC I found also, but for our clients that's to complicate

there must be a way, maybe not with Encore

If I switch to track 1, the subtitles are not there. I can turn subtitles on and off using a navigation submenu. Just not with a selection in the program that shows the wrong track as the one to play.

I suspect a VLC issue, not Encore. But there are lots of ways this can be an issue.
