Hi, I have been importing a lot of 4k mov files (127 items - over 100 GB) into a Premiere Project today and creating proxies of them through ingest settings.
All files have imported flawlessly except one. I cannot find a reason for why this file would not import. The mov file plays fine in Quicktime or VLC, but it kept giving me an "generic import error" when I tried to import into Premiere.
I decided to redownload it from the SD card in case any errors happened from previous importing and I eventually got it to import into Premiere, but it is practically unplayable. It also failed to create a proxy of it. When I tried to manually create a proxy of it through Premiere, it opens AME but nothing happens.
I restarted AME and tried to drag the mov file in to create a proxy file manually that way, but it gave me this error:
"the file .....mov could not be imported. could not read from source. please check the settings and try again" - Media Encoder
or it just locks up AME.
The file that failed is a little over 3 min and 2.35 GB, but doubt that should be any problem.
I'm on a brand new 2017 iMac with 32 GB ram and 4.2 Ghz i7 processor.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss and its really annoying.
I was going to try a different format in AME, but since it won't even open it, I can't try that.

Handbrake might read the file.

I decided to redownload it from the SD card
Download means to copy from a remote computer to a local computer over a network.
When everything is local, it's just a straight copy, not a download or upload.

Sorry for the misused term, but that didn't contribute to solving the problem in any meaningful way.
Thanks.
