Error retrieving frame 0

Community Beginner ,

Hello,

I'm experiencing this new error after importing any videos shot from my iPhone 8 plus.

When I try to create a new sequence from my clip I get this error and the play button freezes and does nothing. Then, the entire premiere pro freezes, and I have to force stop and reopen again.

Some following info might help.

1. Camera - iPhone 8 Plus (shot through native camera app)

2. Import method - tried both drag & drop into project panel and right-click -> import

I see this problem with other video editors as well but those solutions shared already did not help me.

Can someone let me know how I can fix this?

If the footage is variable framerate convert to constant framerate with Handbrake before bringing into Premiere.

The footage is in constant framerate. Not just this specific video. Any video that I import it says the "Error retrieving frame 0", then the play button doesn't work and then premiere pro hangs and crashes.

You can use tsMuxer to convert Variable Frame Rate to CFR without reencoding: https://www.videohelp.com/software/tsMuxeR

The footage plays properly in VLC player?
Could you share MediaInfo? https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo

And might as well just go shoot a sample video to share. I'll test it on my rig

Update your GPU driver if available, it worked for me after doing so.

I had same issue until I updated my GPU driver, the problem is that adobe didn't even recognise my GPU.
I don't know what is the link between them but it is working fine after installing new GPU driver.
