Exporting 4K video in video_ts (FOR DVDs)

Hey fellow premiere-geeks.

I have encountered a lot of things in adobe programs, but i have never gotten a request from a firm to get a video_ts version of my file.

We are currently trying to distribute a movie, and for that we want to give out DVDs to the distributors.

We got a request from the company making the DVDs to give them the video_ts format of the file.

However, i can't find a good solution for this. I have tried using Adobe Encore CS6, but it only allows up to 720p for DVDs.

So my question for you; How can i export a massive project, containing only 4k raw files, with the video_ts format?

Please help. Its urgent.

Thanks in advance.

Henning

A DVD is always standard definition. An NTSC DVD file is 720x480 pixels.

You can't. VIDEO_TS is the name of the folder for a DVD, which is standard pixel size. Inside that folder are various .ifo and .vob files.

A Blu-ray, which allows higher resolution, uses a different folder structure and .m2ts file format.

You don't export DVD files to HD.  You export them to 720.

DVD is only 720 X 480. Vvdeo_ts is only 720 X480.

I only use the old version of CS6, so don't know what you can export to from your new CC version.

People can export for DVD in CS6, and even have chapter markers so the DVD menu could direct users to specific "areas" of the movie, instead of having to watch from the very beginning, etc.

Then, in Encore, people could add cool stuff to show DVD users graphics and chapter choices, and even EXTRA bonus footage, etc.

I shoot 1080p and export for DVD and then put those 2 files into encore, and make the DVD by exporting from Encore as an ISO.

I then use another program to burn the DVD cause I don't like the quality I get burning the DVD out of encore.

It sounds to me like your DVD manufacturer wants you to send them a DVD they can simply copy lots of times.

There is a forum for ENCORE and that might be a good place to ask your question in duplicate... like, not just here in PPRO, but also ask in Encore. Maybe some people still participate there even though Adobe stopped Encore support years ago.

I think you have to get the basics down a little bit before you send a DVD to be copied a lot, so what you end up with is something you like ( and remote control buttons for watching DVD work correctly, etc. )

The other part to this, since you say they are making DVDs, is you export from PR as MPEG2-DVD format, and a preset such as NTSC DV Wide Progressive. You set the bitrate settings to maximize quality while making files a size that will fit.

The VIDEO-TS folder is the output from Encore - you must also know whether you are using menus, etc as part of the DVD.

If you want a higher resolution product, you can use Blu-rays.

720x480 is 480p.

There was a misleading answer above, it's not "720" you are looking for with a DVD, it's 720 X 480 which would be called 480p. That's SD and not HD.

I guess the simple thing is to say the obvious.

When you look at a DVD disc using file explorer, instead of WATHCING IT, you will see the folders and files on the disc.

That's what everyone is talking about.
