Exporting wrong framerate

Community Beginner ,
Oct 15, 2024 Oct 15, 2024

I'm trying to export a very large project in premiere (in ProRest 422 HQ)- all sequence settings in the editing window and export window are set to 23.976 fps, but the resulting export is always an 'average frame rate' of 23.33. Previously when I unchecked 'Optimize stills', it fixed the problem. With the 2025 update, there is no 'Optimize stills' option, and it seemed to cause the same issue. I very desperately need help and ideas on how to fix this. Thanks

What are your export settings? are you exporting on Media Encoder?

Check if your export frame rate settings match your sequence frame rate settings.

All settings, sequence settings and export settings are 23.976 fps. The issue happens when I export in premiere as well as media encoder.

Please post screenshots: sequence setting, export settings and media properties.

Is your footage variable framerate?

I'm not sure what you mean by my footage being a variable framerate. I have modified all the footage to also play at 23.976 fps.

Where do you see that the export has an "average frame rate of 23.33"?

When I open the exported file in Quicktime, it'll claim that the frame rate is 23.33. When I bring the exported file back into Premiere and then check the media file properties, it'll say the frame rate is 23.976, but the average frame rate is 23.33.

Please use the free MediaInfo and post a screenshot of the properties of your exported file in tree view:

Trust Premiere Pro and not QuickTime. 🙂

Or is it a problem such as it playback fine in Premiere Pro (23.976) but stutters in QuickTime (23.33) and/or in other software players or ruins uploads to let´s say YouTube?

@Peru Bob´s tip about using MediaInfo to get the properties is good, please try it when you can and post the results here.

The media file properties in premiere pro says that the average frame rate is 23.33 fps. The aggregator says that the frame rate is 23.33 fps, and it's causing dropped frames (via QC). Playback is fine everywhere.

Will the free download of MediaInfo come with any bugs/viruses? I can't afford a virus on a work computer.
