Hi, I can't seem to get my video to display correctly for the new Facebook cover (820x312) without a great deal of cropping or a lot of editing on my part.
Anyone have a solution? Thanks!
Adobe Premiere Pro is perfectly suited for handling any kind of resolution output video.
This can be achieved in these two ways:
1) Create a custom resolution sequence and edit all your footage.
You can use the context menu to scale the footage to your sequence size, although some effects (like warp stabilizer) require nesting to work. Benefits include creating crops (digital zooms) if you go from higher source footage (e.g. 1080p) to a lower resolution output (e.g. 360p).
2) Downscale the edit in A

Well I doubt Adobe has made a preset for something so new but what are your sequence settings and have you looked up Facebook's recommendations?

Thank you...that's true, there is not a preset. I found more info after i left my question and changed the settings to 820x460 and that made life a little easier. But thank you for taking the time to answer me!!!

2) Downscale the edit in Adobe Media Encoder
After editing in high resolution (e.g. 4k or 1080p), you can choose one of the presets or create a custom size output file, with or without cropping applied.
Your desired resolution does not match a 16:9 aspect ratio: 820 gives a resolution of 460, so 312 would require a crop at the top or bottom. If you bring in 1080p footage you can use both scaling and vertical positioning.
Hope this helps.

I'm using the correct specs (820x312) and it's at exactly 90 seconds. The video uploads entirely and then I get an error message.
Not sure what else to do. Suggestions appreciated!

FB seems to have changed recommended dimensions to 820 x 462 (16:9)

Yeah, but if you upload a video with 820x462 dimensions, it will cut off 150 of the rows, using only 820x312. (On mobile, it seems to use 820x462.) With PE13, I've tried unsuccessfully to create a project preset of 820x312. If anyone has a recipe for an 820x312 project preset, please share.
