File format not supported after update to CC2018

Hello,

I have a ton of footage from previous projects that are in .mov format.  After updating to Premiere Pro CC 2018, none of my DVCPro or DVCPro50 footage is recognized by Premiere Pro.  Is says all of this footage in my sequences is offline and if I attempt to import it, it won't even try.  Media browser wont even show the files.  Only one way can I even get it to try importing, and that is if I drag the file from my finder window to the PP project window.  In that case, it tries and then gives the error message "File format not supported".

For the record, PP is still handling DVCProHD footage just fine.  It's only the DVCPro and DVCPro50 footage that it won't recognize.

This is very strange as it was working just fine before the update, and my computer's preview and Quicktime Player are able to play the footage just fine.

I'm running a fairly new iMac 5K retina on Sierra.

I have tried clearing the media caches, to no avail.

Any ideas on how to resolve this are much appreciated, as 80% of my archived projects and footage is unusable at this point.

Thanks!

Nick

I downloaded it but its came in as a pdf, so I changed the extension to mov (as you did) and no problem importing into Pr.

So some were along the road your clips lost their extension.

On a side not you can batch rename file name/extension in the Bridge.

Thanks for the ideas, Ann.  I tried what you said and it still says "File Format Not Supported".

Sure can.  Here is a short clip...

As I was uploading it, I noticed that there seems to be no file extension for some reason.  My computer has no problem playing and recognizing them as-is, but I decided to just try adding .mov on the end.  And it works!!!

So what do you make of that?  Why was it working before?  And am I going to have to go through and manually add a .mov extension to hundreds (or thousands) of clips?

Thanks for your help!
