Files don't appear in Import Dialogue Box after created in Media Encoder

Does anyone have this weird issue where it takes a long while for files to appear in the dialogue box when you're trying to upload videos?
For instance - when I'm done exporting a video from Premiere using Media Encoder - and I go to YouTube to upload it - when I try to select the file from my hard drive, it simply isn't there. Sometimes, I see the split audio/video temporary files even though the encoder has finished exporting. More often, I have to do a search for the file name for it to come up, even though I'm in the destination folder already.
Usually, if I wait 5 or 10 minutes, it will finally appear, and this might be an OS X issue, I'm on 10.12.3, but it's the weirdest and most frustrating thing ever....@

Have never had that issue on Windows.
There is a muxing process after export, combining the separately encoded video and audio files into one. But the green check in AME won't appear until that muxing is complete. So as long as you have that green check mark, the finished file should appear on the hard drive in any file manager.

I know, right? It's the weirdest thing I've seen in years and years of editing. Sometimes those separate files appear for a long time, but not the combined finish file - even though the encoder has been done exporting for a while..
On this one issue, you're lucky you're on a PC, lol

How long does it tale before the two files are joined into the expected single file? If you are exporting -say- and 1.5 hour file, it will indeed take a while as the muxing is done.

That's actually contradictory data. AME isn't "done" until the single file is created. The percentage will reach 100%, but it's not actually finished until the green check mark appears.
It sounds like you're jumping the gun here, not waiting for that green check mark, believing that 100% means it's done. But, it's not.

I'm not jumping the gun, actually. The file will appear in the Finder - check mark is there too- it just won't appear in the import dialogue box for a while. Usually, I can do a search for the file and it will appear, or I'll duplicate the file in the finder, then suddenly both the original and duplicate show up. Definitely a glitch, maybe it's just my computer or maybe this needs to be a thread over at Apple. BUT, only files being exported from Encoder have this issue...

Importing into what?

Usually it's trying to upload to YouTube... Or Upload to Twitter video...

Are there other files in that directory and if so, do they show up immediately in the open dialog file list while you're waiting for the newly rendered file to show up?

Yeah - other files in the directory show up. And if I search for the file, SOMETIMES, it'll show up there - and the Finder shows that the file is in the folder that I'm currently looking in. But sometimes, not even search works. The only surefire way I've seen to wake it up is to duplicate the file... Am I really the only guy suffering from this?

This may be a Finder issue. If you are certain that the files have had time to mux, and don't see the single file, go to Apple Menu > Force Quit Applications and select the Finder - the button will change to Relaunch. Relaunch the finder and see if the directory for the folder updates.
Also are you exporting to an external disk? If so, is that disk formatted Mac?

I checked online and the only potential solution I found since Finder's windows/dialogs don't have a "refresh" button/shortcut is to go back/up one directory and then click forward into the directory again.

FYI, someone reported this in the AE forum as well:

Wow - thanks for all the info. I will try to reset the Finder and see if that helps. I've tried to choose a different folder then come back to it and no joy. The external drive I'm using is formatted for Mac...

Keep in mind you have to have a realistic expectation for how long this will take. The two files need read, combined and then written back to the same drive. Depending on the length of the file, how busy you computer is doing other things, the speed of your drive and its connection to your computer - this may take a while to do.
