Formatting issues in Closed-Captioning in Pr 2018 OSX

I'm new to captioning, and making some for Vimeo and YouTube.

Issue 1:  When making a CE-608 caption track, all my apostrophes show up as squares in the Pr Program viewer, and when I import the .scc sidecar into Vimeo and YouTube, all the apostrophes are missing.

I can edit them back in on YouTube using their CC function, but I don't see any way to edit them on Vimeo.

Issue 2:  Even though I have positioned my captions higher in the frame over my lower thirds in my video (using Set Vertical Position), and they seem to appear right in Premiere, the CCs stay on the bottom of the frame in Vimeo and YouTube.

I suspect the issue may be with YouTube and Vimeo, but my client specifically asked about not having the caption text superimpose over text in the video.  Does anybody know a way around this?

Thanks for your replies, Stan.

I was copying the caption text from Word, and pasting into the Pr caption fields.

Your question about whether I typed them in was the whack on the side of the head I needed to try that out.

I tried replacing all the pasted in apostrophes with typed in ones (dashes, too, as some of them were showing up as squares in YouTube) in the Pr Caption tool, and now they are showing up as apostrophes in Vimeo and YouTube!  Thank you!

Are you importing a captions file? Or creating in PR?

What font are you using?

Sorry; there is, of course, no font to specify in PR for CC. I can't get a box for any characters to test. Are you typing or pasting the text?

Workaround: use a text editor to put them back in before uploading.

Re position, I get your results: PR position is ignored in Vimeo.

You're welcome! Always good news when it's something that works quickly.

The other option is to paste the word into notepad or the equivalent, so that you're dealing with pure text. That I believe you can copy and paste.
