Fx video GRID gone

Yesterday i could work on my project and put a FX video GRID on my video . Today the option GRID is gone off the Video FX list to chose from . Where is it gone and how can i get it back ?

Thanks Trevor! I played with this a little and now have it in my permanent resources folder is imported into my show template - duplicated for every episode. If you do any more development on it with multiple lines/grid, let us know!

On a side note, the Grid effect was a non GPU accelerated effect. Needed to be rendered every time you make an adjustment.

I use the effect for credit alignment to make sure everything looks good and even. Especially when a video is playing in the background of the credits. Is there an alternative besides Photoshop or Illustrator. I do notice Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Studio still has the grid lines. Maybe I will just switch the project over to that.

Please bring back the effect. It was so useful to generate the pixel effect for screenrecordings and whatsoever, to make it look less digital. Now, i always need to transfer the project to after effects for this effect, which makes the workflow less effiecient.

Looking at that, I don't see why keeping the old effect was really needed. I'd forgotten that Guides can even be shared.

Because its really good for creating old school tv lines effect, not just as literal guides. Is there no other subsitute for doing this now, other than doing it in a different program?

Here’s a quick way to create TV scanlines without the Grid effect:

Just a note: in Premiere 2025, use the Properties panel instead of the Essential Graphics panel.

Here's to get you started, I made this one in AE and it transfered right over to PP.

Remove the .txt extension and you can import it from \View\Guide Templates, be sure to click on the Program monitor before you head to the View menu.

Were you able to snap to a line in the Grid FX?

BTW: Using Guides has nothing to do with Essential Graphics, so you can eliminate this part of the 'disingenuous' rant:

OK, I got another guide to contribute. This one is based on the Safe Margins guide, and it has a guideline at 0 to 100% in 10% increments H and V, and also scales to each new aspect ratio. It's better than the previous one. 

First remove the .txt extenstion, that's just so we can upload it.

Click the Program Monitor and then the VIEW menu -> \View\Guide Templates

Import it from there.

I'd say, "unbelievable" - but sadly, it's not. Yet another example of how people who really don't have to use this stuff think... poorly. The grid effect had so much flexibility to get things aligned - like credits where you might be working with odd numbers, and having to use only certain spots on the screen. The ability to change the numbrer of horizontal and vertical elements, and scale it, was just essential for consistency across screens and making easy-to-follow template guides for other users who have to follow in-show rules. How can something so simple be such a burden on the software? I'll never let the dumb software mix my audio - but I can't have this buried in some obscure effects bin? C'mon man.

And an also perfect example of how few users thought of that effect at all. For example, me.

In all my projects I've never once thought of using Grid to line things up. So I went back to 23.x, applied it to a clip. Yea, that could be really handy.

But you're about the only one mentioning it here, so I'd guess the total actual regular users to get a very, very small percentage of the user base.

Probably like unto the number of folks that would actually use some of the color tools I've argued for, for years. Sadly.

They will develop the parts that have more users.

I'm sticking with the Guides, they are so much better. Snapping and such, and the 2nd one I sent adjusts to all aspect ratios. And they are quick to modify, save, and are readily available. You can have a shortcut to display the guide.

However, there seems to be really agressive posts regards them being in obsolete for so long and finally good bye. Anyway, hopefully things will be calm here: Oh, was playing today with the beta version: All the best! 🙂

Nobody has yet to see and determine the actual solving of the problem. My screenshot above, and the original notification of the of the obsolete options being removed would provide the answer. I'm not saying anymore to  see if someone 'really wants it back' and thus would take a little time to figures it out.

This thread is a bit funny, in not the 'ha, ha' type of way.

The posts are so heated, and yet nobody has taken the time to see the actual way to solve the issue. It's posted above, but you got to look at it. If nobody is willing to spend that little bit of time, then I don't think this issue is so overwhelming.

I used Grid to make borders around images I had scaled down. I saw a great tutorial on this last year and used it all the time. Went to use it today and saw it was gone. It was a great way to make a border so I hope they restore it.

There are suggestions above in this thread, first using both saved reference/guidelines in the Program monitor and the Replicate effect. Paul Murphy has a great video on the latter up above.

I've also created group sets by using graphics shapes. So there's several ways within Premiere as it is.

And those old effects aren't coming back.
