Glitchy Video When Capturing an 8mm DV Tape

Here's the deal. I'm having problems importing some 8mm DV tapes from the camcorder that filmed them. I have imported a number of tapes just fine but others import with numerous jump cuts and and are missing the audio in those areas. Premiere is dropping frames so frequently you can't tell what the people are saying and the Premiere stops recording. I'm using a Sony Handycam Video 8 XR to play the videos through a Dazzle Hollywood Bridge so I can use a 1394 firewire to connect to my Mac. The computer is running Yosemite version 10.10.5, has a 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor and uses an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX graphics card. I'm saving to a drive that has 487.4 GB of space. Some of these videos were recorded using a "fast" setting in order to save space on the tape. I've tried importing with Premiere being the only program running and I still have problems. Any thoughts?

Do they play OK when you watch them in the camera?

If so, try a different capture software.

They play ok in the camera. My coworker and I tried to import the video using iMovie but had the same problem.

It might very well be the Dazzle.

I am not that fond of Dazzle stuff I would go for a Grass Valley converter.
