Graphics template 2025 - WHY?

Community Beginner ,
Oct 18, 2024 Oct 18, 2024

Why? In the latest 2025 update of Adobe Premiere, the possibility of modifying the graphics templates in the original panel to be placed in the effects control disappears... Is it just me?
Furthermore, some extremely convenient functions for editing texts have been removed, such as, above all, the possibility of having all the text in capital letters by pressing a simple key.
Does anyone know where they went?
Why is Adobe going from bad to worse?

Your screenshot shows the Properties Panel open. In the same panel group you have other panels, e.g. Lumetri Color, Essential Sound AND Graphics Templates.

Premiere Pro is moving towards a new approach where we will be adding more and more controls to the Properties panel. At this stage this is your new place for changing your Mogrts, your subtitles and your Titles. You also have the ability to transform and crop your video here or change the level of your Audio. It's contextual to what you have selected on the timeline. The Properties panel let's you also transform multiple clips on the Timeline for the first time!

Expect to see more cool stuff coming to the Properties panel in the future!

It's a horrible change.  I used to have exactly what I needed in exactly the right place.  Now I stopped using the after effects templates I created because it's so time consuming to go in and make minor modifications to it.  I don't know what the use case was to try to hide the graphics editor from the graphics workspace, but I hope someone benefited from it.  All it made me do is use Premier Pro less.

Everything is still there, just in a different panel. Everything.

It's a bit different to use at first because the controls that appear are dependent on what you have selected in the Program monitor. So you select what you want to work on, and the controls appear in the Properties panel.

it may be all in the same place as you say, but I remember very well that a few weeks earlier it had been updated and moved, and shortly after moved again...
Are we the problem or is Adobe doing what it wants?...

Not to mention the constant bugs on team projects and more that I still don't understand why they haven't solved them or aren't trying to do so...
Premiere has become a heavy program, in some ways complicated, especially when it doesn't work as it should...

Workspaces that are constantly moving, Files not connected when you are working on a project and even when you close it and reopen it 5 minutes later... (embarrassing)

Audio gains that don't work, then if you close and reopen it works again...

I could list tons...

Have you tried the Productions mode for your group? That's actually the main one getting developed at this time from what I can see. It's also totally designed for large projects and group collaboration.

I can say that it doesn't seem that Team projects is getting as much attention internally as one might like.

Of course before moving on to team projects.

But for the type of work I do and that we do, it's not right for us.

In any case, I think Premiere still has a lot to improve...

(I say this because I used it for years and years. Switched to another system for the reasons above, and unfortunately returned to premiere due to my company's work needs)

The problem is that in my workflow, the Properties panel had a different purpose that was being used, on a different monitor, and it was a much different size, shape, and location than the Essential Graphics panel.  And I had both active at the same time for different purposes.  Now I cannot.  I have to modify my workflow in order to accommodate the removal of the dedicated graphics panel, and it's doubled the time it takes me to create a video as a result.  It is a ridiculous change, and whoever made it did not think through the impact of merging two completely different purposed panels into one.

And it sounds like you're planning to cram even more stuff into Properties.  That is going to slow people's processes down so horribly.  Please undo it.  We need dedicated panels for dedicated purposes.  Doubtful that'll happen though, so just keep complicating and convoluting things until the only option we have is to switch to a different program.

As users, we don't individually have control.

But the vast majority of users prefer the deletion of the EGP and switch to the Properties panel.

I'm one who wasn't a fan, but is realizing that the way it works now, I can probably eliminate at least three of my nine custom workspaces. Simplifying things a ton.

Many power users of other CC apps like Illustrator have been pushing for this change for years, btw. Again, because once you get used to it, your workflow is actually simpler.

You don't need as many panels so the ones you do need can be bigger.

Hello, I am just entering the discussion, but is not it possible to give jeremy the option to activate the old "view" and beign able to switch at will? And 2) can't they downgrade to ppro24?

Each panel takes a significant amount of coding. I cannot see them expending the time to rebuild an EGP panel, when it would simply duplicate what is available in another panel.

Again, this simplifies actually using the program. I didn't at first see how much it did. And the change was very confusing. Certainly.

So as something that seems to have actually simplified both the use and the code ... it's here to stay.

If the Properties Panel is becoming the "Everything" panel, then at least give us the option to have multiple Properties Panels to use.  If I could put one Properties panel back into the Essential Graphics area so that I could shape it to be usable, and put the original Properties panel also back where it used to be on the left for actual properties, then it wouldn't be so horrible.  Some of us have workflows that require different sizes and shapes of panels for different purposes.  Cramming everything into one and making us move things around all the time is wasteful.  I appreciate that people who have simpler workflows may only need one panel that changes based on the content selected, but it's definitely making things way worse for those of us who aren't doing such simple projects.  I wish I could stay on an older version, but that's not a viable option for me.  So for now, I am simply using this software less, and using other systems to find solutions to the problems introduced with this recent 'enhancement'.

"Each panel takes a significant amount of coding. I cannot see them expending the time to rebuild an EGP panel, when it would simply duplicate what is available in another panel."

That's exactly what they did with this enhancement.  They put in all those hours to take a panel that was working great, and rewrite it in a worse way into the Properties Panel.  I would rather they spent that time improving the performance and fixing bugs instead of introducing new ones.

The vast majority prefer the deletion of EGP?  I have to search very hard to find anyone who says they like this change.  I think it's a stretch to say the vast majority like it.  The majority of what I find online is people asking why the change was made, because it's confusing, unnecessary, and problematic.

There are several million daily users of Premiere.

The only reason people post is because they don't like something. It is very rare to see more than an occasional post from a user without a problem.

So ... naturally, what you see online are complaints.

Don't assume that because of several million users a couple hundred complain, that the entire user base is unhappy with it. As I've noted, this was actually a heavily requested thing by many Adobe "power" users.

Because it carries a typical behavior between now several apps that are used by them.  Not me, but ... I'm not so naive as to assume that because I didn't like or ask for a change, others wouldn't.

It has become clear to me, on using it some, that again ... I won't need several of my custom workspaces. Because the single Properties panel takes the place of other panels in the other workspaces I built.

I can not figure this out for the life of me.  I've been using Premiere for years and have never had this much difficulty after an update.

It's great that you add features, but not at the cost of killing our workflow

I totally get the initial problems adjusting to the Properties panel.

That said, I do respect the views of many other "power users" who really appreciate the Properties panel and that context-aware thing. And so ... yea, it takes some few minutes to learn how to work with the blame thing if you've not been using that in another app.

But once you do ... you have fewer panels to go to for controls for things. So that's why many think it's faster to have the Properties panel.

I'm still adjusting, myself. I can see what they're talking about, but ... I'm still adjusting.

It's a software program, not an easter egg hunt.  Stop hiding things that work great.  I could see if you wanted to improve things somehow, but all you did was taken essential graphics tools out of the essential graphics workspace, and hid them in Properties.  So Properties can no longer exist in the old area that I had it, I have to try to manually put it back in the Essential Graphics area so that I can use it at all.  And I can't use Properties the way I did in the past, it now has two completely different purposes, with two completely different location needs.  Keep hiding more things in "Properties", so that I have to change my window setup mid-process multiple times throughout the process.  Great way to drive efficiency!
