Highest 4k .mov settings for export?

Contributor ,

Hello,

I have been able to make amazing 4k renders doing 2 pass and setting target bit rates around 100 for h264 but am needing to convert my clips to .mov and curious what would be the best export settings? Would I go media export Quicktime as the setting? I would of thought there would be a .mov 4k prestandard setting in the export but looks like I will need to customize one or I am just not seeing it. Thanks for help!

Thanks,

Jay

If you have to create a QuickTime file, my recommendation is the Cineform YUV 10 bit option.

With my 4k render do you think re-rendering out to a Cineform YUB 10 bit option would cause any quality loss, perhaps some I might not see but someone else might? I don't want to go through all the corrections again for each clip if I can avoid it.

I guess best way is to just see, but maybe there is something I am not thinking of when doing that

Thanks!

Jay

Cineform is on par with ProRes and DNx for quality (I think even better in some cases).  I create Cineform copies of my RAW footage for editing on a regular basis.

Having said that, footage varies.  Do some pixel peeping, then you'll know.
