Highlighting Twice to Delete Once with Text Based Editing?

Participant ,
Jan 31, 2025 Jan 31, 2025

Windows 25.1.0 (73)

When I try to text-based edit, I have this problem where I highlight text, the blue highlight follows, but then when I let go of the mouse, it doesn't highlight the text.

I have to re-highlight the text so I can remove it.

Getting pretty frustrating. Cleared all caches and it's still doing it.

Does anyone else have this? And no - this is a production machine, so BETA versions NEVER get installed.

Could you share a screen recording of this behavior? That would help in understanding the issue better.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about this. I am unable to reproduce this issue at my end. Could you please confirm the version of Premiere Pro that you are using and whether this is happening with any specific project/sequence?

Thanks,

Sumeet

Version 25.2.3 currently, but it's been happening in other versions as well for about a year. It does not happen 100% of the time, but it happens in every project and sequence. You can see that in attempt 1, the cursor doesn't follow to the end, but does in the second attempt.

@karenr96344391,

Try turning off "Selection follows playhead." I thought I got it to happen once, but other than that one time, it is working for me as it should.

How often does it happen? Over half the time? Does it ever happen more than once in a row?

I am on 25.4.0 on Win 11.

@geekazine,

Is this continuing to happen for you? What version are you on?

Stan

It happens about 75% of the time. I set up a new project and did some more testing. It seems that it starts when I search and delete for pauses and filler words. Before I get to that point in my workflow, it works as it should. So far, turning off "selection follows playhead" seems to resolve the issue. Thank you.

Glad to hear that Stan's suggestion worked for you. For testing purposes, would you mind creating a copy of your project & testing that in Pr v25.4? Let us know if you are still experiencing it in the latest version. We will get it checked.

Thanks,

Sumeet

LATEST

I am always on the latest version. I have BETA versions loaded on another machine, and I see this problem a lot.

-- ESPECIALLY if I already had the system go through and remove filler words or pauses.
