Am I missing something really obvious here? I’m trying to figure out the easiest or best way to hold the last frame of a clip and control the duration of the hold? I have tried putting the pointer on the frame I want to hold, selecting the clip, control clicking on the clip and selecting “Frame Hold Options…” and “Add Frame Hold” neither of them does anything. The last frame of the clip is at 00.04.35.11. Basically I want to hold that for about two minutes while I add credits. What am I doing wrong?
Those two options mentions wont work on the very last frame.
Go to the last frame and hit Insert Frame Hold Segment.
Use the Rate Stretch Tool to extend it to whatever length you want.
Other way is to make an export frame from the last frame, bring the still into the project and put it next to the last frame.

Thanks Ann, I have inserted the frame hold segment but it won't let me extend it with the Rate Stretch Tool, it is 2 seconds long by default but I can't stretch it. I can't work out why I can't extend it 😞

Rate Stretch tool can be a bit obstinate.
Right click on still and use Speed/Duration option

That doesn't work either, I've put the duration to 50 seconds, the speed automatically changes to 0.16% (which doesn't make any sense as it's going from 2 seconds to 50 so it is 25x slower) anyway, it doesn't do anything. The frame hold segment stays at 2 seconds and next time you go to Speed/Duration option … it has reverted back to 2 seconds and 100% like it was before! 😞

Forget about the speed. You are not going to see 0.16.
Do the export frame instead.

Thanks for your help Ann. I can’t be bothered with this palaver. I’ll do the credits on the default black background for now after the clip. The credits are exactly 50 seconds, 10 credits at 5 second duration each with no gaps between them. If I want to hold a frame over the 50 second duration, I’ll use the penultimate frame and use the “Frame Hold Options…” or “Add Frame Hold” method instead. I saw a video on YouTube showing how to do this but didn’t know at the time that it didn’t wouldn’t work on the last frame.

If you have inserted the frame hold segment ..use the normal tool to drag the end out to the duration . Click/Hold Drag.
or Right Click> Speed Duration >enter a Duration.

Thanks Shooternz, that is what I tried above (I think), and it didn't work, with the normal tool or the Rate Stretch tool. Tomorrow I will try this again. I will try the other method Ann suggested of exporting the frame (last frame) and then bringing in the exported frame. Hopefully this will work. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. I don't see why you can't just copy the frame and then paste it into the timeline but we'll see.

I've done it now. What it is, is you have to put the frame hold segment onto V2 to extend it. (you can't extend it on V1). Once you have extended it to the length you want you can put it back on V1. This is a bit weird but problem solved.

Simply use Command (ctrl) K and add a splice - contextually click "Add Frame Hold" on the splice point - trim drag to duration
