With the new update of Premiere Pro (version 23.4) horizontal scroll on the timeline hardly works at all. When I use a two finger swipe on my trackpad to move the timeline left or right, it normally moves very smoothly and moves long distances quickly. But in version 23.4 it hardly moves, and I have to push down hard on the trackpad and do really long swipes to initiate a (weak) scroll.
I ended up reinstalling version 23.3, and horizontal scroll on the timeline now works perfectly again.
I hope this will be fixed with future updates so I can always have the latest version.
Mod note: Title changed slightly

Same issue, glad it's not only me. And I really loved that feature. I'm using Windows 10 with the new 23.4 update.

I'm also not able to zoom in and out of a sequence using Alt + Mouse Scroll anymore as of today. I thought it was maybe due to the 23.4 version update, but I rolled back my version and the issue persisted. I hope this issue gets resolved soon.

Hi, just to say that two weeks down the line and it's still not working. Any chances of a fix timeframe?

Software: Adobe Premiere Pro Version 23.4
Hardware: 2020 M1 MacBook Pro, 2020 M1 MacBook Air, 2021 M1 Pro MacBook Pro
Hello,
I've been using Premiere Pro for the past two weeks and I've noticed that in order for me to move "scrub" my Timeline to left to right with the trackpad, I have to swipe with my two fingers way more firmly now. There will be times it will not register any left/right sliding input at all unless I use the whole area of the trackpad, then I can finally "scrub" in the Timeline. I would like to note that zooming in and out in the Timeline works perfectly.
I've opened Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and the feature to move the canvas and artboards left, right, up, down, diagonally works perfectly, except in Premiere Pro. I've checked my settings on my MacBook for the trackpad, I've even tried unstalling/reinstalling Premiere Pro, installed Premiere Pro on a new MacBook, and the "srcubbing" delay is still there.

Yep, I downgraded to Premiere Pro 23.0 and the scrolling delay is not there. Hopefully Adobe patches that issue in the next update.

On completion of the newest update, which has a feature to improve mouse movement and scrolling on Macbook Track pads, I am expereince crazy amounts of scrub lag. I need to scrub a bunch just to get it to move then it jumps all over. It was very smooth prior to the update, and smooth on every other program I have been using. I have a Macbook Pro M1 Max with 64GB ram and have attempted restart, changing pointer speeds/track pad speeds. I uploaded the same project to premiere rush, and it scrolls smooth as it usually does. Not sure what is going on. Any Help is great!

I am having an issue in Premiere Pro on my M1 Max Macbook Pro 2021 for over a year now and im finally done with it.. the timeline is so laggy when scrolling around, zooming in/out and dragging clips around and its getting VERY annoying. I feel like im working on a 1995 windows machine. this is unacceptable for how much we pay for this software. ive tried resetting Premiere preferences, reinstalling and everything multiple times. P.S. this also happens on my older iMac as well. Heres a video of it happening on the M1 Max Macbook Pro
Thanks

Hey David,
I can understand how frustrating this must be. The engineering team has been working on a similar problem and has released a fix in the latest Beta. Would you try the Beta and let us know if it resolves your issue? Installing the Beta won't overwrite your current version of Premiere Pro. Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Ishan

Also noticing the timeline feels worlds better in the beta (have been struggling with responsiveness for a while). How quickly can we get this in the non-beta?

Working on an external SSD should help with that.
Although it is fixed in the newest release, a while ago something similar happened on of the most powerful macs in our office, turns out that the editor by mistake attached the proxies as full resolution, or the full resolution as proxiers. this created a bottleneck, keep an eye on that

Yeah I'm working on an thunderbolt NVME that gets 2000mbs read write. I'm just reacting to how much more responsive the beta timeline feels.

when can we expect this fix to be in the non-beta version?

When I am using my MacBook Pro, I use my two fingers to scroll right to left and left to right on my timeline while editing. For the past month or so, I have been noticing that the scroll feature is very slow, lagging, and catching. It is no longer easy to scroll back and forth on the timeline. I have made sure all new updates are installed but still having this issue. Please help, it is making editing take a log longer! It is only happening in Premiere Pro, all other scrolling on this Mac has been working smoothly. Thank you kindly

Hey,
As of today, July 2, 2023, horizontal scrolly version 23.5.0 (built 56) cannot be used normally. I also tried the Beta version, same problem. Very uncomfortable!!! When will you get fixed?
I am working on WIN 11
