How do I create a legacy proxy workflow?

Hi! I'm working on a film that's shot both on digital and film. The 2 video sizes are 2048x1556 and 1920x1080. I'm having trouble making a sequence with both files where they retain their full quality. How do I do this? Is it even possible?

Set the sequence to 1920x1080 and just downscale the higher resolution footage as necessary.  It gives you a good chance to reframe your shots as you see fit too.  Your higher resolution files will crop in to 1920x1080 but since they are greater than that resolution you still have the full resolution quality.
