In Premiere CS6 I could drag both an 'Anchor to In Point' and an 'Anchor to Out Point' motion effects preset onto a clip, and both would get applied.
But with CC it seems that one will overwrite the other. So I can't use a preset to create an in and out motion effect.
This concerns custom saved effect presets.
If you drag an 'Anchor to In Point' effects preset onto a clip, it gets applied.
If you then drag an 'Anchor to Out Point' effects preset onto that same clip, it gets applied, but removes the in point effects.
Is this a bug in CC?
Is there a different way to do this?
So what I want to be able to do (and could do in CS6) is apply a motion effect to the in points and a different motion effect to the out points of multiple clips with different lengths.
Did you try creating them from scratch? I did this and it seems to work on cc 2018.

Anybody got an answer?

Hi petervanwesten,
It is still a feature in the latest version of Premiere Pro. Please check with different values in motion effects with no conflicting values.
and also try with a new project.
If possible, share us the screenshots of the settings of both the presets.
Thanks,
Vidya.

Here is a screencast of the issue:

"Please check with different values in motion effects with no conflicting values."
Well, that is the issue. It was possible to do this in CS6.
So it would not remove the opening motion:position keyframes if you apply an 'Anchor to Out Point' motion effects preset using motion:position keyframes too.

Apparently, you cannot add multiple presets with the same behavior to a single clip. The last state overwrites any previous keyframes, it does not add them.
Is it perhaps possible to create a single preset that will have both in and out parameters included?
Please use https://adobe.com/go/wish to shoot in a feature request for this issue. Likewise, I have requested the possibility to easily reverse keyframes, as you can do with the Keyframe Assistant in After Effects.

Well, this is different behaviour than CS6, where this was possible.
So we lost this ability.
Having one preset that handles in and out point effects is not possible either.
Currently that is only doable for clips that always have the exact same length.

You can apply multiple presets
I can do this in CS6 and 2018.
Tried it with fly in fly out set to anchor point.

Can you test with custom saved effect presets?
- Apply a custom motion:position effect on a clip (in and out).
- Right-click on the Motion effect in the Effects Control and save as preset. Select 'Anchor to In Point' for the first, and 'Anchor to Out Point' for the second.
- Then apply these to a new clip.

My Film Presets above are user created and work fine. The Fade In is anchored to the In point, Fade Out anchored to out.

Yes, but these are not motion:position based.

Made the presets this afternoon.
Set fly in: save as preset
Remove keyframes and set it to default position.
Set fly out
save as preset.

@Ann Not sure if what you are doing is in line with what I am experiencing.
So do you have 2 effect presets using motion:position keyframes (using the anchor in/out types)?
And what happens if you drag both these presets onto 1 clip?
This is not about saving presets, but about applying them.

Petervanw - sounds crazy but try selecting the presets in a different order. If I select the IN preset and the ctrl select the OUT preset then drag both it doesn't work. But if I select the OUT first and then ctrl select the IN then dragging both applies as you expect.

It does work on different length clips
But I would rather make on fly in and out and set to scale.
(youtube video will be removed after a few days)

I'm just trying to follow this thread. So, do you end up with one or two presets you then apply to a clip.
I have it working with two, one for in, one for out. When I tried to make it one, it doesn't work for clips of different lengths which kinda' makes sense unless you select 'scale' but then the length of the in or out motion gets changed also. So, can have two presets applied to the clip to push on and off. Seems to be working ok with cc2018.

I have 2 presets. Applying them both does not work. Regardless of order I select them in.

Well, I be d...
Recreated them from scratch (instead of recreating them from a clips in an existing project), and now it works!
Weird bug in Premiere, though.
Thanks everyone for helping me get to a solution, especially MyerPG!

"shoot in a feature request for this issue"
Well, that would be a bug report, as it is a loss in functionality.

That hasn't been my experience. You can test the following.

I tested it for you and it works in 2018 the same way as in CS6.
Both presets get applied without removing keyframes.
Might want to trash preferences.
